He'd only meant to leave a few minutes for ice and then return. Guinevere had been sweating fiercely now for a few hours, bed clothes sticking to her frame, and he didn't need to be told twice when she'd nearly shouted out his eardrum to get her something to cool her down. He kissed her sweaty forehead and went out to find someone to ask for ice.

Instead he wound up wandering in mindless circles, scared to go back into the room, which was how he happened upon Merlin.

Well.

Crashed into Merlin at any rate. And it was a spectacular feat of balance that neither of them toppled over.

Arthur kept his head down as he went by Merlin to conceal the smile that threatened to come out should he stay out there and listen to anymore of Merlin's ridiculous proclamations.
