WHO: Chris Halliwell and Peter Petrelli
WHAT: Random run-ins.
WHEN: Evening, but early eveningish
WHERE: Outside a bookstore, then in it.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In progress

It felt so very strange having nothing to do. He wouldn't go so far as to say having nothing to worry about. Like one of the people on the boards had already pointed out, thoughts that had been in Chris head nearly from the moment he'd arrived in this messed-up version of Boston, whoever was deciding to play puppet with all of them was something that he-all of them-needed to be cautious about. There were major consequences with messing with the fabric of time and dimensions. Chris knew them almost better than anyone. He knew what he'd to go through to be able to go to his family's past in order to save his older brother. And he knew that none of that applies here. Whoever was behind this, this was child's play for them. He had a feeling that the lack of sound and the demons, were not only just the beginning, but were things that probably didn't even scratch the surface of what this thing could do.

And yeah that worried him. It also didn't help that he was worried about Kathy. The kid was likable. He could admit to himself that Christopher Perry Halliwell could be a big old softie. He already felt protective of her and matters only continued to become more bizarre as his brain broke a little over the fact that she was a charater in one of his favorite T.V. shows. That he knew how she was supposed to die. Halliwell's really didn't deal well with deaths, especially "supposed to" deaths. Or maybe more accurately, the ones they found out about ahead of time. Somehow, they managed to find ways to thwart as much as they could. Sometimes. Chris sincerely hoped that now was one of those times.

If one good thing could come of this place.

Yes, just one. Chris was weighing the merits of his Aunt Prue being alive and here. Of any of them being here. Yeah, Billie included. She'd changed enough of his and Wyatt's diapers not to earn the honorary title. He didn't think he could deal with getting to know them and having to lose them. He never had Prue and Billie, as far as he knew, didn't know about him coming to change the future. But Paige. They'd been close in his future and he'd really gotten to know her and Phoebe ... and his mother, better than he ever could have imagined. Going to a future that he hadn't known if he'd truly changed without the support he'd both unwilling and a part unconsciously allowed himself to rely on had been ... well, not scary, it'd been, Chris didn't quite know. But it wasn't a feeling he liked, and now he decided it might be better for everyone if he just kept his distance. Getting to know Billie and Prue, picking back up with Paige ... like he hadn't died. Chris didn't want to go throw that again. He wouldn't. No matter what the inner voice in his head that was currently sounding like Grandpa Victor was saying.

Things would be so much easier if Paige would just allow him to avoid her.

Sighing, Chris made to open the door to the book store when he collided into someone. "Watch were you're going." He snapped. His mood taking over his words and his common sense.

"Less crowded would probably be better," Peter admitted. "I get the feeling this isn't the sort of conversation we want people overhearing." He shrugged and started walking. Chris would come or he wouldn't. As he walked, he tried to explain his ability. "I...it sounds ridiculous...but when I touch people who have an ability, I sort of get that ability too. But if they have multiple abilities, I only mimic one of those abilities. And if I touch someone else, I get that person's ability and lose the first person's...it's complicated."

He glanced over at Chris. "If you make any X-Men jokes," he said calmly, "I'll punch you."

"So you have a combination of empathy and psychometry." Chris stated simply, taking a wild guess. He didn't recall ever hearing about an powers like that. He wondered if it was difference of worlds, like Peter calling it "ability". The word brought to mind more skill-set than something that was a part of him, but it fit well enough. Chris guessed empathy because his aunt Phoebe had been able to manipulate and control certain powers based on emotions, such as fireballs. And for Chris, powers were strong tied to ones emotions. It made sense. "It's more complicated than that." Because being a whitelighter and a witch wasn't just an ability, it was what he was, his heritage. He doubted that Peter could copy that but he wondered ... Maybe telekensis. But would he be able to copy orbing?

"Empathic mimicry," Peter said. "I used to work differently...the abilities I mimicked stayed with me permanently and I didn't have to touch people. But...it...I guess you could say it got broken." Or taken away and replaced by a synthetic version because his father was a psychotic bastard with control issues. But enough about that. He tilted his head to the side and looked at Chris curiously. "Howso? What is it you can do?"

Emapathic mimicry. That used to work differently. Right. He'd see what he could find out. It was kind of irritating to be so limited in resources. No books. No connections, demonic or otherwise. Everyone here was more clueless than he was and there was no way to investigate what was going on in the typical way since there was no source. No source, no resources. How was he supposed to help out some guy when he didn't even know anything much about his ability? He supposed asking the source wouldn't hurt. Unless he got more vague responses. "How'd it get broken?" hris asked.

They continued to walk, the streets weren't very crowded at the moment and everyone seemed preoccupied with either there own business. "It's a long list. A very long list. I'm not really into the idea of full disclosure but the rules are different here, so I suppose I should give it a shot." Then Chris proceeded to give Peter the basics of whitelighters and Halliwells. About what Chris was to Peter and vice-versa. About how even without "abilities" he would alwayts be part whitelighter and part witch. He told him about demons. He didn't mention the book, Wyatt being evil ... or formerly, or him dying. Nothing too personal. "I have a lot of the same powers of a full-whitelighter, except I can't heal. I can orb. Which is a form of teleportation. As a witch my ... ability is being able to move things with my mind both with orbing and regular telekensis. And that's basically it." Chris replied. If it had been any other situation, he probably would have added a shrug. As it was, he waited for Peter to absorb it all.

"My father," Peter said, "who I'd been told killed himself, by the way, stole my power...before he got a serial killer who was under the assumption that he was my brother to telekinetically throw me out a window...my family is really dysfunctional." He shrugged. "Anyway, dad was working on a formula to synthetically create the genetic anomaly that allows for abilities, with my actual brother Nathan...which would have caused a real mess. I shot my dad in the head...sort of. It was more I fired the gun and Sylar stopped the bullet, until he realized dad was lying about being his father, then he telekinetically launched the bullet at his head...I mentioned my family is dysfunctional, right? Anyway, we were destroying the formula, and in some chaos a large fire broke out. The building was about to explode and I wasn't exactly a fan of myself or my brother...the actual one, not the serial killer...dying, so I injected myself with the formula so that I could get him out."

He realized he'd been rambling a bit, then thought about what he'd just said and started laughing. "Oh lord," he said. "I never realized how ridiculous that would sound out loud." He stopped laughing and glanced over at Chris. "I'm sorry...you must think I'm completely crazy." He listened to Chris talk and nodded. It was interesting to hear about witches and demons and whitelighters, but it sounded a little crazy...until he thought about his own life. "You know...if I hadn't just given you that whole spiel...which isn't even a fraction of the insanity that's happened in my life...I'd probably think you were nuts, but the way I see it...witches and demons aren't any crazier than telepaths, invisible men and empathic mimics. So, why is it witch and not wizard or warlock or something else? Just curious."

He considered the powers Chris had listened. The power felt familiar, so telekinesis. "Telekinesis," he said. It was one he was very used to, and a power he was good at. He looked around to see if anyone was paying attention, then pulled a quarter from his pocket. Tossing it in the air, he stoped it before it could drop back into his hand, making it spin clockwise then counter clockwise before letting it drop into his palm and pocketing it again. "Cool."

Chris just stared at Peter for a moment, before muttering very lowly under his breath, "And I thought dad and I had issues." Shaking his head slightly, he went on as if he hadn't missed a beat. Back to default sarcasm. "No the detailed explanation and the sudden laughing, make you seem real sane." Although, truth Chris was thinking the same, thing. If it wasn't for his own life, he'd be thinking that Peter had watched far too many sci-fi thrillers that wanted to be full on horrors.

"So you weren't here for the Gentlemen?" Chris asked. "Witches are generally good." Chris explained. "Though an evil witch does get called "an evil witch", sometimes. But generally warlocks are witches that have used their powers to kill a witch. They have different powrs besides their base ones, the ones they got from killing witches. And the ones that they got when they became a warlock. Like blinking. Which is just like it sounds like. Warlocks are always evil. Wizards are ..." Chris thought about this one. He knew his information but he wasn't a walking Book of Shadows like his dad was, or his aunt Paige was definitely coming. He knew best what he had encountered, and what he hadn't he went on what he'd heard. And you tended to hear a lot when frequenting the Underworld. "I heard that wizards are pretty much neutral as a people. But, I think for the most part, they're like witches ... they can be good or evil." Chris explained. "They're powers are also different. Witches can take any shape or form, a warlock too .. for the most part. Wizards have mental based powers. Conjuring, levetation, shapeshifting, just to name a few. And just like all warlocks can blink, all wizards can apparate. Yes, I know it sounds like Harry Potter but it's not. Witches as a whole don't have a uniform teleportation style.

Chris quirked a brow. That was pretty good concentration. More that pretty good. "I'm guessing you had it before? Before your dad ... " Fucked you over, Chris thought. "took it away?"
