WHO: Elena Gilbert (OPEN)
WHAT: Arriving in Colligo during an invasion is not the best way to stay healthy and alive.
WHEN: December 28; early afternoon
WHERE: The Grand Library → ??
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Elena didn't understand what was going on. The last thing she remembered was finding Caroline after the Founder's Ball and then she was... in a library. It was a nice library, she supposed. Most of the books didn't seem to have any titles, which was odd, but that really wasn't important at the moment. The point was that she wasn't where she'd remembered being a few seconds earlier and she had no memory of having ever been in this particular library before. She was certain she never had been, either, when the statues that were on either of the large, ornate double doors suddenly began to move toward her as though they had minds of their own. Eyes wide, she backed slowly away from the shelves, spun around, and darted in the opposite direction. She only made it a few steps when she was scooped up off the ground. She kicked with all her might, twisting in every direction and shouting for them to put her down, but none of it did any good. She was hefted all the way to the doors that had begun to open as the statues began to move and, without so much as a word, the teenager found herself dumped rather unceremoniously on the steps outside.

The first thing she noticed was that it was daytime. The sun made her squint, one hand shielding her eyes while she used the other to shove herself into a squatting position. Rising to her full height, Elena peered back at the statues. One had already headed inside and the other stood there, something in his hand and being held out to her. She hesitated, frowning thoughtfully. Finally she took it. "Thank you," she offered absently, gaze already falling to the device. It was a PDA she realized suddenly. "Wait, what am I-" Looking up, Elena discovered the statues were gone. The doors were shut and a quick tug on the handles yielded no results.

"-supposed to do?" she finished with a heavy sigh as she turned and leaned against the doors. Banging her head lightly against the wood, she stared above her for the briefest of seconds and then finally turned her attention to whatever was beyond the odd library with the freaky moving statues that doubled as guards. What greeted her was something that would disturb her for quite some time to come. It looked like a veritable war zone, with bits of debris from smouldering nearby buildings littering the sidewalk and grass beyond the steps where she stood. There were a few tendrils of smoke pouring from the decimated roof of what looked like a business office of some kind and screams could be heard in the distance. Elena's stomach dropped and her heart skipped a beat. "Oh God..." she whispered, horrified.

Fear began to creep up her spine as she shoved away from the door and slowly made her way to the edge of the top step. Her eyes widened as some sort of metallic sphere flew past wielding what looked like a blood-soaked blade. Gasping, Elena clamped her hand over her mouth and quickly ducked behind one of the columns in an effort to hide, hands shaking and PDA forgotten about as the horror of her new surroundings began to sink in. She knew she needed to figure out somewhere to go, find someone to help her, but she wasn't sure how to do any of that. Yet she forced herself to peek out from behind the column, grateful to see that the sphere had moved on. She looked left, then right and, moving oh-so-carefully, made her way down the stairs and into a city that more closely resembled a war zone.

Elena of course wanted to ask about a million questions following what he said but she clamped her mouth shut for the time being. Yet, just because she didn't vocalize the inquiries didn't mean she didn't still have them. How had he bent the light around them? How had he known that would even work? Did he know how she'd gotten here, or where this 'Colligo' was? Did he know what those things were? What were they? On and on the questions bounced around inside her mind, yet out loud she simply assured him quietly, "I'm not planning on running unless you tell me to."

In fact, as a few of the Toclafane flew past, Elena stepped even closer to Harry. Her grip on his hand also unconsciously tightened, as though clinging to him might make her even more invisible than she apparently already was. Once the coast seemed clear again, she did ask in a whisper, "Where are we going?"

The rest she figured could wait until they were somewhere relatively safe but asking where that was going to be seemed fair enough, given she was putting her life into his hands.

Resisting the urge to tuck the slender young woman under his arm--doubting she would appreciate him going quite that big-brotherly on her--Harry tried to pick the path of least rubble for her. He even remembered to shorten his long strides a little so she wouldn't have to skip to keep up. She wasn't really dressed for the weather in Colligo, he noted--not for the first time.

"We've set up wards around the apartment buildings where captives like us are housed," he explained, "Figured we could head for the closest one, and then figure out where to go from there. I know you probably have a hell of a lot of questions, but I can't really--"

He snapped his mouth shut, half pulling and half pushing the girl behind him as another shiny Christmas-globe of doom darted around the corner, giggling. It hovered in front of him, turning curiously this way and that, as if trying to decide where the voice had come from.

"Wanna play?" it asked.

Harry answered by pointing the end of the hockey stick at the thing and muttering, "Hexus."

The toclaphane shuddered, and crashed to the ground in a shower of sparks, and Harry slapped it aside like a hockey puck, tugging on Elena's hand. "Come on," he said, "You can ask all the questions you want once we get indoors."

[ooc: Sorry this took so long! I never received the notif. >< ]

Questions? Yep, she definitely still had questions. Starting with 'wards?' and ending with 'what the hell is going on?'. Of course, that wasn't any different from thirty seconds before the evil ball of death had appeared and asked if they wanted to play, of all things. She stared in horror, peering around Harry's shoulder, at the face-off only to flinch slightly when he seemed to deal with the threat with... Latin? Yes, she was pretty sure that was Latin.

She was also pretty sure she was having a nervous breakdown and had completely lost her mind.

"Are you sure your last name is Dresdon and not Potter?" she hissed as he tugged her past the fallen Toclafane and further down the street. She didn't ask anything else, hadn't really meant to even ask that out loud, really, but instead gazed around them as they moved with wide eyes.

What she wouldn't give for the relative normalcy that was her own insane life back home, right now.

Harry just grunted in response to the question of his last name, all but dragging her around the corner and into the nearest apartment building. If he were Potter, he would have just aparated them directly into his safely warded 'flat.'

Right about then, he was wishing that were part of his skill-set. It would come in handy. Then again, knowing his luck, he would probably splinch himself trying.

"Yup, I'm sure," he said, ushering her toward the stairs. There was a perfectly good elevator, but there was no telling how long it would remain working if he made a habit of using it. "Though I here there is a fellow by that name somewhere around here."
