Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!@event, !closed, *log, ariadne, eames

WHO: Ariadne and Lt. Eames
WHAT: Trying to explain things. The operative word there being "trying."
WHERE: Ariadne's apartment (604A)
WHEN: Backdated to yesterday evening, after this.
RATING/STATUS: Incomplete, closed, probably PG-13

As the events at Colligo went, this one seemed downright benign on the surface. Confusing and maddening, sure, but at least nobody was in imminent danger of having their brains eaten. In the literal sense, anyway.

Of course, Ariadne mused as she headed to unlock her door, they could be said to have their brains metaphorically eaten and then spit back out. Some people apparently just had different memories. Like Regulus, who was being far too nice about waiting around for their coffee or drink, given that he was normally a wizarding bigot who hated most normal humans. And then there were those who were changed physically as well. Phillipa was a teenager and thought she'd been stuck in Colligo for the past ten years - and Ariadne was afraid to ask just what she herself had been doing for those ten years.

And then there was Eames, ten years younger and looking to her for answers. That was unusual. Ariadne started making tea for both of them, and then on second thought pulled down the bottle of vodka from the cabinet. He might need a stiff drink to get through all this.

"I really hope he's real. I left him a note, and I'd hate to think I was leaving notes for figments," he replied quietly, then listened as Ariadne explained things. She even hugged him, although the only thing he'd really picked up on was still playing over in his head. "Mal? Mal's here? Oh, Jesus. I remember... I wish I didn't, but I do, Jesus Christ."

He pulled back after a moment, and then dropped down on the couch before scrubbing at his face. Mal was here. He had no idea why that felt like a punch in the gut, since all he could remember of her at that point in time was the awful moment when he was told of her death, and the fact that she was insanely, wickedly good fun, especially after drinking red wine. He looked up at Ariadne and smiled. She probably thought he was going mental. Best act normal, then. "I could wear some of the shirts if you'd like. There's one that isn't too bad, for all that it's huge on me. I remember being bigger, though. Not very well, but I've caught myself a few times... Oh, and I like vodka and smoke Bensons, so that's okay. Oh, would you mind if I smoked?"

Ariadne just hoped Arthur was still himself. The point man was generally reserved, but everybody else who'd changed had posted with questions, and since she hadn't seen anything from him so far she figured he was just... doing whatever Arthur did in these situations. Reconnoitered, or something. She watched Eames sit and sank down next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"She came here from before... before she died. She's actually really nice." Ariadne smiled a little. "I mean, I only met Cobb afterwards, so I didn't really know her." Except as a shade who went around torturing and murdering people. Which obviously didn't count. "And you don't have to change clothes on my account." She pulled back to give him a little room, nodding. "It's okay. I don't mind."

He lit up, then smiled and nodded his thanks at her when she passed him his mug of tea. Sitting back and relaxing as best he could, he inhaled deeply and filled his lungs with smoke, then let it slowly trickle out from his nostrils. Calming deep breaths, right? He looked around as he took another drag on his cigarette, and took in all the art and craft materials. He hadn't thought it possible to beat the small mountain of art supplies in his flat, but it appeared that he was wrong. There were models all round the room, as well, and sketches and paintings too. A few of the pen and ink ones made him pause, but then he realised it was because the other Eames had drawn them. It was his style of drawing. Well, it would be if he got back to practicing.

He had a drink of tea, then looked back round at Ariadne and shrugged. "I have so many questions, I don't even know where to start."

Ariadne tucked her feet up on the couch and hugged her knees, watching him take in her apartment. She'd definitely taken over the empty space, allowing herself free rein to expand her creations as much as she liked. There was even an airship hanging by the balcony doors. Ideas without purpose, perhaps, but she could stop thinking about her personal life when she was immersed in her plans.

"Pick one," she replied, shrugging. "I'll do my best to answer anything, but remember, I only met you a few months ago." For all that it seemed like longer. Ariadne didn't have the same history with him as Arthur or Mal had. There was a lot she just didn't know, even if they were close in spite of that.
