Entry tags:albus dumbledore, merlin

Who: Albus Dumbledore and Merlin.
What: Two wizards with epic futures (and epic future beards) meet.
Where: Aziraphale's bookshop.
When: Monday afternoon. In other words, before the zombies.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

Albus had forgiven Gellert, to some degree, but he wasn't completely over the other man's deception and manipulation. While he could share living space with the man, and could snark and joke with him like always, there was still some awkwardness there. Gellert had lied. Had used his feelings against him. He was still having trouble reconciling that with what he knew of his friend. And yet, it fit. As much as he hated to admit it, it fit. Gellert hardly pretended to be a good man. And Albus knew that. Still, the heart often blinded one to the faults of others.

He'd left Gellert and Ariana in the flat, needing to get some space to clear his head. Gellert hadn't complained for once, though that might have had more to do with the end of the compulsion toward honesty than any real change of heart. Still, it was good. He didn't want to be around her when his own emotions were a mess. It tended to make her outbursts worse. He'd walked around for a short time, then headed to the bookshop run by the man named Aziraphale. It was a nice, quiet place, that had more arcane selections than the other shops in town. He looked around a bit, then saw a book that interested him on one of the higher shelves, just out of his reach. He stared for a moment, then used a wandless, non-verbal command to call it to his hand. It was one thing he truly liked about Colligo. People didn't regard magic as something to be hidden. It was a nice change.

Albus turned his head when someone spoke to him, spotting a young man about his age with dark hair and rather impressive ears. Normally, he would have politely dismissed him and continued on his way, because he was used to keeping to himself in this place, but the mention of his magic caught his attention. "Yes," he said after a moment. "I'm surprised you noticed. Most people sort of...ignore things that go against the norm." It was honestly refreshing to see someone who didn't. "I guess that means you're magical too?" He sincerely hoped the answer was yes. He desperately wanted to connect to other magical people, and ones who didn't assume they knew him because they had been acquainted with him far in his own future. It was difficult, he considered, to live in one's own shadow.

Then the other boy introduced himself and Albus felt a thrill of excitement. Merlin? This was Merlin? That was absolutely brilliant! He'd always admired Merlin's legacy and to meet him, at his own age, was an opportunity he'd never imagined he might have. This day was turning out better than he had ever anticipated. "It's a pleasure to meet you," he said with a smile. "I'm Albus. Albus Dumbledore."

"Yes. There are magical people around here, but I haven't met too many of them. I always look though." Merlin shrugged his shoulders absently. He was always looking out for any hint of other sorcerers. There were a couple around, he knew. The ones he'd actually met had disappeared though, and it was nice to finally meet someone else who seemed just as enthusiastic about it.

At least, he was excited. Merlin couldn't help it. His expression fell slightly when Albus introduced himself. The name was familiar. "I know you - I mean, I've heard of you." Merlin commented. "You're teaching Mordred."

It was hardly something he could hold against the red head. He seemed nice enough. The idea of Mordred learning magic, Mordred in general, just made him a little uncomfortable. Everything that had to do with the druid boy and Morgause set him on edge.
