Who: Rose Tyler and the Doctor
What: Conversations?
Where: The TARDIS
When: Morning after Sirius' party
Status/Rating: Incomplete/TBA

Rose found herself laughing quietly as she read her PDA and replied. She could hear the distinct noise of the Doctor tinkering around in the TARDIS from her seat near by, her legs curled up underneath her and a blanket tucked over them. Her headache was realtively alright. She wouldn't let herself get to the stage she would be so drunk that the hangover would be unbearable when she was with the Doctor. She couldn't embarrass herself that much even if she already had with the  drunken message and the drunken...moment he probably liked to forget.

She glanced over in the direction he was in, biting her lip softly. She didn't know what to say or do. She wanted to discuss this but every time he found out she was thinking about it he seemed to think it stupid or childish. So why bother? She didn't want to get herself any more hurt than she was at the moment. Sighing quietly, she looked back to her PDA, smiling when she read the message and replied.

"I know. And the point is if you're not so focused on working something out and knowing everything, you might actually see something you rarely notice."

Yes it sounded like a stupid thing to say but it was true. She knew he saw all those things when travelling but when was the last time he really sat back and experienced it all? She had no idea. She frowned when he commented on how she looked, making a noise of protest as he then went to talk about her liver.

"My liver is just fine, thank you very much."

Suddenly, before she knew what was going on, he was up close. Pulling back a little startled, she raised her eyebrow in confusion and curiousity before he was pulling back and exclaiming his usual sentences that made no sense. But the moment he mentioned food and bounded away her face lost any colour it may had kept.

"Doctor...please don't."

God she better not be sick in front of him.

"I see too much already," he told her, reaching down to tie a loose lace on his battered converse trainer. What more would she have him be looking for? Rose didn't understand how he saw things. No human would. Things weren't as simple as they thought - time didn't work that way. Events and pieces of history fitted together like some infinite, dynamic jigsaw, and they just swanned straight through.

The Doctor pushed his own racing thoughts aside in order to 'diagnose' Rose and quickly stride away. But she called him back, and he froze in his tracks, spinning smoothly to face her from half way across the room. His hand flew to the back of his neck in a nervous gesture.

"Why not?" He stared for a moment, then realization dawned. "Oooooh! Right!" He shuffled slightly awkwardly, stuffing his hands into his trouser pockets as he watched her. "What, then?"

"What about those simple things in life? Do you notice all of those things?"

She didn't know what she was talking about, she barely focused on those things. But it seemed a good thing to say to him even if he probably wouldn't listen to her at all. It was worth a shot at least.

She couldn't get rid of that queasy feeling in the bit of her stomach since the Doctor seemed so ready to get food. But then he was being awkward and shuffling and she felt rather guilty. Making sure her mug wasn't in the way, she bit her lip slightly.

"Just...come give me a hug."

The Doctor grinned, bounding over to her and wrapping his long arms around the petite blonde in the chair. She still smelt a little of dry booze and tea, but underneath it all was that gentle smell of 'Rose' which had lingered in the TARDIS long after her lost her. It had driven him mad for months, even after Martha had arrived. He felt his arms tighten around her involuntarily, his face partly buried in waves of golden hair. Perhaps, if things were different...

"Come on," He released her reluctantly, hoisting himself up to full height and holding out his hand to take hers and pull her to her feet. "Come sit outside. Fresh air! Lovely! It'll do you good!" He flashed a wide, crooked grin, wriggling long fingers teasingly in her direction before dragging her out towards the doors. Outside, the day was pleasantly cool, the park drenched in sunlight until the colours seemed too bright.

She threw her own arms around him when he was suddenly pulling her into a hug, her eyes closing for a moment. She would never tire of being held by him even if things were awkward in her eyes. At least, they almost were since she was trying to forget about it. Something that was impossible when he was holding her so tightly against him. But then he was moving away and her arms fell uselessly to her side on the chair.

She smiled when he wiggled his fingers to get her up, rolling her eyes in mock annoyance before she took it and stood, putting the blanket back over the chair before she was being dragged to the doors. Laughing softly, she was just grateful enough that her clothing wasn't exactly embarrassing or anything like that.

"Do you have to be this energetic when I'm hungover?" she asked with a grin before they were outside, the cool air suddenly wakening her up slightly.

Rose slid a small hand into his, and he pulled her to her feet, tugging impatiently until she had placed the blanket down and let him drag her to the doors. "You're the one being hungover when I'm energetic," he pointed out, pushing the wooden door open so the sun exploded into the main room, glinting off the metal surfaces and catching in the main column to make a rainbow.

Pulling her out onto the grass of the park, the Doctor hesitated, before releasing her hand and darting back inside the TARDIS. A second later he returned, clutching his long brown coat to spread over the grass. Then he gestured to Rose to sit, taking the space beside her and leaning back on his elbows. "Remember when we last did this?" he asked her, staring up at the pale blue sky. That grin ripped his features. "New Earth? New New New New New New New New New New New New... New New New York?"

They had hardly been outside before he was rushing back into the TARDIS. Frowning, she was about to call out for him when he returned with his coat and a grin formed on her lips. She sat straight away before moving to lie when whe leaned back.

"I remember," she said with a smile as she looked up to the sky also. When he repeated all the 'New's' that were needed, a laugh escaped her lips as she turned her head to look at him.

"New New Doctor back then," she said with a smile. She had loved that moment with him, in the grass. So relaxed and simple with nothing to worry about. Then, of course, everything changed and became hectic. It always did.

He laughed, letting his head fall back for a moment. That had been the first time they'd left the TARDIS after he regenerated. He still remembered the awkwardness of getting used to his new, lanky body. He quite liked it now though. He wasn't looking forward to having his floppy fringe reincarnation. Although he would doubtless get used to it given time.

"Well, as long as I keep my hand this time. I don't have the energy to grow anything back." He smirked at her, flexing long fingers at his side. Donna had used his hand in the end, absorbed the very thing that made him 'him'. And it had nearly killed her. The thought was a little sobering, the image of her face when she'd realized what was happening...

"I'll keep you from doing something that stupid."

She watched his his smile began to fade slightly and she knew there was something wrong. Even if things were awkward and different between them, she still loved him. He was her best friend and seeing him suddenly not as happy concerned her. The Doctor was usually always cherry and in those occasions where he was not she knew there was something terrible going on in his head.

Turning onto her side, she took his hand and squeezed comfortingly. "What's wrong?"
