Who: John Watson and Hermione Granger.
What: Tea.
Where: A café in Colligo.
When: Evening.
Rating: TBD.
Status: Incomplete.

John supposed it might be best for him to text Sherlock, to be sure the detective knew that he was out. But, to be fair, he had told him...he'd just done so while the man was preoccupied with some bit of experimentation or another. And yes, maybe that had been at least somewhat intentional, but he didn't want Sherlock mucking this up. Not that there was anything to muck up. It was just tea. Tea with a perfectly nice young woman who happened to be fictional. Or had books about her anyway. After all, there were apparently books about himself and Sherlock, and they were hardly fictional.

He reached the place Hermione had mentioned, entering and spotting the brunette one of the tables. Walking over, he smiled. "Hello, Hermione," he said. "I'm John. It's a pleasure to meet you in person." And it was. He'd always been fond of the character of Hermione in the books, clever and never quite fitting in. And she was prettier than he'd imagined or her picture on the network had implied, though it was hardly a conventional sort of prettiness. He had to bite his tongue not to comment that she didn't look at all like Emma Watson, which was a good thing as her eyebrows had always rather unsettled him. But that wasn't the point at all. After all, he was hardly trying to pull Hermione Granger. That would be a bit odd. Besides, he was reasonably certain a genius witch was a bit out of his league. "Do you mind if I sit down?"

Hermione blushed. She wasn't used to flattery - Ron was terrible at compliments, and the only ones she'd gotten before that were from Viktor Krum, and being complimented by a world-famous Quidditch star was a bit overwhelming. But this was a perfectly nice and normal gentleman who was telling her she was very pretty, and that was very nice.

"Oh, I'm not that interesting," she said, shrugging and trying not to blush further. "Read a lot of books, order everybody around, but I'm not really a heroine type, am I?" The rest of what he said made sense even if he was talking about her friends and enemies as characters. "And we're all biased, I suppose." Another smile flashed across her face. "No weirder than talking to Doctor Watson is for me, hm?"

Hermione nodded and headed up to the counter, placing their order before heading back to the table. "They said they'll be over in a moment with it, and I take it as a good sign that they didn't just chuck a couple of teabags and some paper cups with warm water at me."
