Who: Allen Francis Doyle and Cordelia Chase (And if Wes would like to come back to the apartment at some point, feel free!)
What: Reuniting!
When: Friday night
Where: 306B

Doyle was in a particularly good mood as he walked down the hallway towards his new apartment. Sure, he'd shown up in a strange new place and he wasn't entirely sure how he'd gotten there. But, on the other hand, he wasn't dead. That was a fair step up from where he had been just a little while ago. And even better, just before the whole death thing happened, he'd been kissing Cordelia. And that was just another thing to be happy about. She knew about his demon half and didn't seem to mind kissing his human half.

Or, well... Two years ago for her she found out and didn't mind. He knew that things could have changed for her in the last couple of years. And he hoped they did, at least some of them, and for the better. But at least she didn't seem to bitter about getting the brain splitting headaches that came with the visions?

And then a thought hit him. What if she only thought he kissed her before taking that dive into death to pass those on to her? Sure, that was a handy plus, and one that he didn't even know he could do until the moment came along, but that wasn't the reason he'd done it. He'd kissed her because he'd wanted to, and he had wanted to pretty much from the first moment he saw her.

But, he wasn't going to let that ruin his mood. He needed to keep his spirits up, after all. That smile was still on his face as he walked into their apartment. It was too bad that there wasn't any sound around, because if there was he would have called her name to get her attention.

Cordelia wasn't easily at a loss for words. She could, in fact, probably count on one hand the number of times that it had happened in any significant way. She couldn't help it. She had a quick wit and a sharp tongue and made using both at the same time into an art. Especially when it came to those she was most comfortable around, and especially Doyle.

So it was somewhat of a shocker when she found herself simply staring at his reply for a few seconds longer than necessary, wholly unable to think of what to say in response. She covered for the uncertainty by taking a prolonged sip of her own bottle of water and erasing his message slowly. Then she finally gave a mental shrug and decided to just do what she always did - say what she was thinking.

Or in this case, write what she was thinking.

A few seconds later and she'd written her response. With an almost challenging expression on her face, she raised it up and turned it so he could read it.

So, are you going to let what you think might happen stop you again or what?

At first, Doyle thought that Cordy was taking just a bit too long trying to decide what to write, and that she was probably trying to think of some way of turning him down even though he hadn't even asked yet. But, then again, she could have just been thirsty.

But when she turned that board around and showed him her latest reply he couldn't help smiling a little more than before. He took the board back from her and erased her message, only to replace it with his own.

Can I take you out to dinner sometime?

Doyle accompanied the reveal of his latest message with a slight smirk and a perked brow. And yes, he was quite aware of the fact that one of the first things he had done after coming back to life was finally asking Cordelia out. He couldn't help it if that was one of the things he'd wanted to do the most the last time he was alive.

Cordelia grinned and took the board from him, making an exaggerated thinking expression before writing out her response.

Took you long enough. Duh. Of course.

She showed him the board and her smile this time was more sincere. There was a softness in her eyes - a certain sign that she had missed him. And while Cordelia cared for Groo and part of her hoped he was going to show up in this place (only after he'd gotten Pylea in some semblance of order, of course), she also knew the odds of that were very, very unlikely. Besides, she had cared for Doyle when he'd been alive and truly believed something would have happened between them had he not died so she figured rather than sitting around, pining for someone who may never show up, she would follow through with something that had always remained a large 'what if' in her life.

Her only real concern, truth be told, was that the changes she had undergone since his death - most of them being due to the very visions he'd given her, ironically enough - was going to make her someone he wouldn't want to be with. Not that Cordelia thought for one instant that she wasn't an amazing catch. She was, well, her after all. But there was always that chance and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't a bit nervous about it.

And those two short sentences written out in Cordelia's girly handwriting was enough to make the smile on Doyle's face grow even wider. Before he had died, even a bit before he kissed her, Doyle had just been getting to the point where he thought he might have a chance with who he considered to be one of the most beautiful women on the planet. But, that chance had gotten snatched out of his grasp, hadn't it? But it seemed it had only gotten momentarily delayed.

He took a small step closer to her before taking the board, then erased her message and replaced it with his own.

I'll even let you pick whatever restaurant you want.

Cordelia smiled brightly at his words, a silent bubble of laughter spilled past her lips. With an amused shake of her head, she took the board back and wrote out simply, You do realize you only get $100 to start your new life with, right?

Showing him what she'd written, she tossed him a wink before writing beneath it, You pick the restaurant. Anything with Golden Arches, Burger in the title, or a Value Menu and you're sleeping on the patio for a month.

With another amused grin, Cordelia handed the board back to him.
