WHO: Anna and God
WHAT: The Almighty requested a chat.
WHEN: Right after this.
WHERE: The gazebo beside the lake.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Now that she was back at Colligo, there were a few things God needed to focus on. One of the first - outside of playing a few much-needed games of skeeball - was to meet with someone who she knew didn't necessarily want to meet with her. She couldn't say she blamed Anna. The angel had certainly done enough things to potentially incur the Almighty's Wrath. However, God wasn't looking to punish her. True she hadn't said as much but that was simply her way of making sure Anna knew just how serious her offenses were.

Of course it helped that God didn't look particularly angry. In fact, she looked like a woman sitting beside a gazebo. Unassuming, quiet for reasons that the handful who passed by didn't know, and wearing a small but happy smile. The sun shone down overhead and a light breeze caused her long, dark brown curls to blow just a bit. She squinted a bit as she looked up toward the blue skies before slowly rising to her feet. Slipping out of her flip-flops, she wriggled her bare toes in the grass for a moment.

It wasn't Earth, she thought, but it was nice. As she stepped back into her shoes, God smoothed down the front of her shirt. Her hands were clasped loosely behind her back as she turned toward the spot where she knew Anna would arrive.

Anna was...well, terrified was an understatement. But she knew, she had known from the moment that she found out that God was there that she'd have to have this conversation at some point or another. So, swallowing thickly, she decided to walk, instead of fly. It gave her just a little more time to think about what was going to happen. She still had nothing.

God could be angry. Furious and tear Anna's grace back out again, which was honestly what she was expecting. What she knew now that she deserved. But then the opposite could happen. God was a forgiving being. Anna knew that firsthand. It was a truly unpredictable situation, and that scared her almost more than anything else. She liked knowing what she was up against and the fact of the matter was that in this, she had no idea. She knew that they were bad, the things she'd done, and she knew that she had to pay for them, too. That was about all she had about the situation.

She approached and bowed her head in greeting when God turned toward her. She was just as beautiful as Anna remembered her. "Hello, my Lord," she spoke calmly, though she was anything but.

Hello, Anna.

God's reply wasn't spoken out loud lest she risk killing every human in the vicinity. No, her response instead was made to wash over the very essence of the angel before her. It appeared within Anna's mind, the words simply understood rather than actually spoken in a tangible voice. Just two words that, evenly toned, that revealed virtually nothing. For a long moment it was all the Lord said as birds chirped from a nest at the top of the gazebo and the laughter of children sounded nearby.

She moved closer, close enough to touch the angel. Her head tilted back so she could peer up at her and then slowly, very slowly, she raised her right hand and brushed her fingertips against Anna's cheek. A small smile stole across her features. You always did worry too much, the Almighty seemed to whisper an instant before pulling the angel into a firm, yet loving, embrace.

Anna heard the reply, calm and level, exactly what she expected God to say, though she wasn't even close to being free of concern. The two words rang about in her head and as much as she wanted to worry about what would follow, she couldn't. She needed to remember that God was forgiving. And maybe what she'd done was beyond forgiveness, but if it was, she'd take what she had to take. She owed Sam, Dean and the rest of them that, at least.

When she reached out to touch Anna's face, the angel would have wept, if she had the capability. "I have plenty of reason to worry," she said softly, swallowing nervously, until her Lord wrapped her arms around her, and pulled her in for a hug. And her composure broke. "I'm sorry, Lord. I know I've let you down. I'm...I'm so sorry."

Shh. The sound was loving and warm as she held Anna close for a long moment. There was a light smile upon her face as the Lord stepped back, holding her at arm's distance and peering up at her. There is no need for apologies.

The statement, really, wasn't entirely true. There was a need for apologies, but they didn't need to continue now that they had been said. She knew Anna had only been doing what she felt was right. It was an oversight in judgment, to put it mildly, but the Lord looked at intent as much as action and Anna's intentions had been noble. Misguided, but not all of that was her fault.

You have done your best to make amends while here, she reminded the angel. There are others who have come before you who cannot say the same. Her thoughts drifted, briefly, toward Zachariah. His destruction still hurt to dwell upon for more than a few scant seconds. The least pleasant part of her job, by far, was punishing those who strayed too far from their path to find it once more. Fortunately that wasn't the case with Anna.

Come. The offer made was in a light-sounding tone; a far cry from the seriousness of the moment. Walk with me. Tell me of your time here. Not that the Lord didn't already know all that had been done, even in her absence, but she preferred to hear it directly from the source when given the option and she highly doubted Anna would refuse her request. At least, not without a very good reason.
