Damien Thorn was sort of excited and nervous at the same time.He was going along to the park to meet his brother. Or half brother, as they had different mothers. Though he did feel some slight pressure. He was always making mental notes to himself, holding back from what his nature was telling him to do. To tempt or corrupt thing in such a way, to manipulate things, use his silver-linen words and somehow get him to the point where there were two antichrists in Colligo. Ohh, what a team they'd be! But no.. that was his dark side talking, the part of him that embraced that fate, the Hellish part of him.

To be honest, it was best that Adam remained a kid. That he stayed innocent and smart. And Damien really did like the idea of family. So he'd behave. And there was no for now in the equation. He'd forego that original plan he had before god warned him. He'd let it go and just have some fun for once. Maybe they'd get to show off.. or Damien would, at least. He also wondered if the younger one had any similar hobbies that he had himself. He would probably find out soon enough.

Damien was tempted to add his own with Yes, go on now, but realized that wouldn't help matters. No need to offend either of them by being sarcastic this early in the game. So he just watched instead.

"Yes, I suppose we could do that," Damien said with a nod. He had felt compelled for a moment. It was the strangest feeling. But it was only for a moment, probably because he was.. the same that Adam was or could be. So he merely followed the younger one over.

He nodded and sat down on a bench. He waited until Adam sat as well. "So.. umm.. I guess we're both orphans? I mean, we weren't with our real parents, obviously, since we were adopted by humans. What was your family like? Were they.. nice people?"

Adam sat down and slid back until he could draw his legs up, Indian-style, in front of him on the bench. Resting his elbows on his knees, the boy folded his hands then turned his attention to Damien. His brow furrowed a little in thought at the questions, mouth opening for a few seconds before he drew in a breath and answered.

"My folks are my folks," he finally stated. "I know who my real Dad is, 'course, but I don't see how him making me makes him anymore of my Dad than the one that raised me. Even less, really, if you ask me." He gave a shrug of his thin shoulders before continuing.

"But the folks that raised me are nice enough yeah. My Mum worries about all sorts of silly things if you ask me. I keep tryin' t'tell her that don't nobody care what behind my ears look like, but she keeps right on saying if I don't wash there, I'm gonna be grounded for good." Adam gave a roll of his eyes and, for a moment, appeared very much like any other small boy discussing the horrors of baths and the diligence of mothers. The facade continued on as he spoke more, this time about the man who had raised him.

"An' my Dad mostly tells me to mind myself and not to act like I'm so smart, which don't make much sense if you ask me. He's the one that makes me go to school so I can learn, after all!" With that, the boy let out a puff of air that blew his blond bands back from his forehead. His shoulders seemed to scrunch inward a bit and his gaze dropped to his lap; his fingers absently picked at a spot on his jeans that would probably be a full-on rip in the fabric by day's end.

When he looked back up at Damien, there was something in his eyes that hadn't been before. Something not of this Earth nor ever meant to walk upon it. It was a terrible darkness that spoke of all of the potential horrors that man could ever imagine and even more beyond. It was the only real glimpse into the being that should have been Adam Young, had he been raised as both sides wanted him to be.

Then he blinked, and the look was gone, replaced with brilliant blue eyes that sparkled with the excitement of a life still getting started.

"Nobody knew who I was," he stated finally. Simply. "There was some mix-up, at the hospital, see. They thought I was some other boy and both sides were looking at him all that time." He gave a shake of his head. "If you ask me, it's pretty shoddy work from both ends, not even knowing who's who. Seems to me you wouldn't mix that sort of thing up." Again, he shrugged, before peering up at Damien with a curious gaze.

"What about you? What were your folks like?"

Damien laughed briefly as Adam spoke of washing behind the ears, as well as the annoyance of it. Though he did catch that eerie look for a moment. He recognized it clearly and knew what it was. But it was only for a moment and then things were back to normal, as if nothing happened. "Probably best that no one knew," Damien said softly, listening to him. It seemed like he knew something about that. He nodded. "That is really shoddy work. Now if I was involved, I wouldn't have screwed it up. Or fired those who did. Though the one they got instead of you.. I wonder what he thought about all that."

He sighed, taking a deep breath as he contemplated how much to tell him. It was a sensitive and dangerous topic. He decided to probably just go and tell him, but not too much details. Adam could know. They were brothers, after all. "Not as nice as yours," he started after another sigh. "It's like the saying goes. Sh- err, I mean, crap happens." He continued, starting to explain. "Oh, they were nice at first. But they also found out who I was. Who Dad is, and the mother I came from. Turns out that people tend to.. overreact. When it comes to this thing. And by overreact, I mean they tried to end me with seven special daggers, the only thing in the world capable of doing it."

Damien paused then, leaning back in the bench for a moment. "I was six when my dad tried it. It was in a church. But then a cop came in, and.. you know. Then I was adopted by the brother, taken in. I had a cousin named Mark. Loved him. But then people started finding out again, and.. there were accidents. I never actually did them, it was sort of.. I don't know, I guess a countermeasure Dad had made when I was born." He left out the part where his stepmother was a follower, one who was considered the Whore of Babylon.

He stared at the ground for a minute before looking back at Adam. "They tried to end me too. But it didn't take. I also lost Mark.. who I actually did love like a brother. Sometimes I wish I could just see him again, one more time. So.. no, I don't really have any family left, just me." He paused and then smiled lightly. "Well.. besides you, of course." Damien was a bit curious about one thing, however. Something he'd been wanting to ask. "So, the devil is our father. Biologically, at least, and I like the world no matter what others think. But.. do you know who our mothers are, who had birthed us?"
