Who: Marian and Guy
When: Thursday morning
Where: Grocers
What: Begging for forgivness
Rating/Status: Incomplete/TBD

Guy wasn't due to start his shift for another two hours, but he knew Marian started at nine and he wanted to be here when she arrived. She couldn't really make a scene at work, could she? Still, luckily the store room was empty and Mike wasn't there to question his black eye. He just wanted a few minutes to apologise and explain, that was it. Then he would go, if she wanted him to, and come back when his shift started. He wouldn't blame her for not listening at all, however if Robin had believed him, perhaps there was an outside chance that Marian might listen.

Guy sat on a box of soup tins, as far away from the tap as he could get. He'd been avoiding water ever since he'd discovered what was causing the way they were all feeling. He'd had a quick shower the night before, but had made sure he'd gotten straight into bed and gone to sleep before he could be a menace to anyone. He'd been drinking mainly juice. He'd found he had a liking for apple juice. It probably wasn't that good for him, but there was so much here that was apparently unhealthy. As long as it tasted good, Guy didn't care. At least it wasn't turning him into a raving sex pest.

Guy sighed, leaning back against the wall as he waited. Surely she wouldn't be long, unless she decided not to come to work today. He didn't know what he'd do if she didn't. He couldn't go round to her room because Hood would be there, or at least find out he'd been. He'd just have to keep waiting around at work for her shifts to come up.

She barely heard his words. She was very angry at him. How could he have done that to her? It was unthinkable. The look on her face pure anger toward him as he said he would never intentionally hurt her. What had he intended to do to her? She thought that was a complete lie to spare him from her further punches, but then she heard the words about what he thought was causing it. "The water? but Robin's been drinking the water."

Guy took a deep breath, trying to steady his pounding heart. "Then perhaps that's why he stopped hitting me when I explained," Guy murmured, frowning. His face was still sore from Robin's punches. He hadn't blamed him. In fact, he'd been expecting far worse. He hadn't thought the outlaw would be so understanding. If he was drinking the water too, then he must have known Guy was telling the truth. "I swear to you Marian, I would never force you on purpose. In the whole seven years I've known you, never once have I tried. The water just made it so much harder to resist you."

She started to think it over, about how much Robin's own labido had increased in the past week or so. She was originally having fun with it, but she eventually began getting more and more tired as she had to go to work, but when she came home after her encounter with Guy, all that changed as soon as he saw she was upset. He didn't even try to do anything. That was making her appreciate her husband even more if what Guy was saying was true. That he would fight that feeling because she was upset.

She frowned at Guy as he spoke his regrets. The look on his face, she thought she had seen that before, when her father had died. He had been sorry for trying to kiss her then, and wanted to protect her from the Sheriff finding out it was her dagger that killed her father's jailer, but she still didn't forgive him. He should have slammed the door in her face if that was what was happening. She would have been mad for a while, but nowhere near like this. She raised her hand again, and let one more punch hit him in the stomach before she gave up on the beating, going back to sit at the table where she was earlier. "You should have fought it harder. You scared me. You hurt me."

Guy gasped as another jab caught him in the stomach. He had seen that one coming, and if it had have been a normal fight, he would have been able to block it, but he had decided straight away that he would take whatever punishment Marian wished to inflict if it bought her even a step closer to forgiving him. He couldn't lose her again. It would hurt too much.

"I know. I didn't want that to happen. I left work to try and keep you safe." He looked down, her words piercing him. "I'm so sorry Marian. I never wanted to hurt you."

Marian looked down as she actually listened to his words, fiddling with her hands on her lap, trying to look like she didn't care what he said that she was set in the way she thought. She still couldn't believe that he could have done that to her, and she was angry as hell at him about it. Her face clear of that. "But you did. What are you trying to do right now? Explaining this to me?" She new he was asking her to forgive him, but she wanted him to say it.

Guy frowned. "I'm just trying to tell you how sorry I am. And how much you mean to me. I know that probably doesn't matter to you, after everything I've done, but you could always see the good in me when no one else could. I just hope you can see now that my apology and all that I say is genuine." He didn't expect her forgiveness. Just her understanding. He knew he didn't deserve her forgiveness.

Marian looked up at him for his words, the emotion showing on her face, not forgivness, but partial understanding, and still anger. She didn't want to forgive him, and she didn't even think she could. She just looked up at him, a thought coming to her. "I know you have always cared for me, Guy, but you need to understand that I am not yours to have... or to take." She then thought she needed to add this onto her statement as she walked to the door to the rest of the store. "I can't forgive you." It was a quiet tone, as she walked through the door to start her shift.

"I know that, Marian," he sighed. Did she have to rub it in? He had to live here, knowing she was married to his enemy and there was nothing he could do about it. It hurt almost as much as when she had been dead. There was an overwhelming sense of despair which it took all his effort to fend off. It was hard for him, but he dealt with it because she was worth it.

Guy looked down as she walked away. Her last words had stung more than he'd expected them to, but he knew it was what he deserved. Still, he wasn't going to give up. He had lived without her for too long to let the stupid water take her away again. He would put it right somehow.

Sighing, Guy made his way out of the shop the back way.
