WHO: Marian and Guy
WHERE: The Market
WHAT: Looking for fabric to make a new dress/ Guy's Arrival
WHEN: Saturday, Early afternoon.
Rating: PG
Status: Closed/ Complete

Marian had grown tired of the clothes she had been given when the time had changed. She had liked the clothes of the other century much better than the clothes of this one. She had decided to go to the market to acquire some fabric in order to make a dress that would better suit her and would look more like the clothes she used to where when she had been home in England.

She was standing at the fabric stall, pleasantly speaking to the man who owned the stall. She pulled up a piece of fabric she liked every now and then asking if it was easy to work with or not. She finally decided on a light green fabric and purchased it from the nice man. As she stepped away from the stall, another storefront caught her eye. It was a jewelry store, and the broaches where what she was pulled in by. She stood there for a moment, eying them through the window.

Guy's eyes followed her face as she knelt down in front of him. He nodded. She really was real. He had no doubt about that any more. There was no way this was his imagination, and he could feel too much for it to be a dream.

He gulped, listening to her. Robin was here. That would be interesting. They may have been working together, but Guy couldn't exactly like him, no matter how hard he tried. It was then that Guy noticed the ring on her finger. He felt his blood chill. Surely not... He took a deep breath, aware that his brow had creased. So she was married, or hopefully just betrothed, but at least she was alive. And even if she was attatched, if might not be to Robin. He needed to stop jumping to conclusions. That was how he'd lost her in the first place, by not taking the time to think things through. "You're...married?" he asked quietly. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to know, but it was best to get it out of the way now, straight away.

"I am better. Hood must have told you what has happened since... then. So much has changed. I have changed. He must have explained..." Still, if she was somehow from before her own death, perhaps Hood wasn't aware of all that had happened. "I am a different man now, Marian. You have to believe me..."

Marian looked down at her hand and her wedding ring when he asked her that. She couldn't help but smile at the thought she was finally married to Robin, but she didn't want to rub Guy's face in it either. "Yes, I am. To Robin." That was all she said on that fact, but she would answer his questions if he had them. She had been happy here and he should know that.

When he started telling her that he had changed and that Robin should have told her about it and explained, she started shaking her head, and her face changed to one of confusion. "He didn't say anything. I think he would rather not think about what happened after that." She was telling the truth. When she had tried to find out what he had done with himself after she died, she wanted to know if he had kept fighting for England, but he had said that he was going for revenge, but she didn't think Guy needed to know that. Since then, when she tried to bring it up, Robin only shrugged it off saying something to the thought of what would it matter now?

Guy felt his heart fall. It was like hearing those words all over again, except this time it was real. There was no going back. She belonged to another man. He looked down, but nodded. He had learned to live without her, he'd had to. At least here, she was alive, and from that little smile, he believed she was happy. He chewed a little at lip before looking back at her.

Guy looked a little confused. Okay, so he knew Robin wasn't one to sing his praises, but surely he would have noted how Guy's allegiance had changed. "He didn't tell you anything? Not about my sister, or the brother we share? He didn't tell you how I killed Vaizey or was made an outlaw; how I've been fighting together with him for weeks now? I can't believe it..."

She could see his face fall when she told him who she was married to, but he didn't lash out like she had originally thought he might. Then he started speaking of other things. Of his sister, and the fact that he shared a brother with Robin. The one the was most unbelievable to her though was the fact he had killed the sheriff and made an outlaw and was now working with Robin. They had always hated each other, how could that have been possible.

"You share a brother with Robin?" Robin would have surely told her about that. He must not know of it. That was the only reasoning she could think of. "All of that happened? He must not know of it."

Guy gulped, trying not to dwell on the thought of who she was married to; who she went home to each night. He became accutely aware that they were still kneeling in the middle of a path. Frowning, he pushed himself to his feet again, his hands resting on her arms, lifting her with him.

He nodded. "His name is Archer. Hood and I risked our lives to save his..." Guy shook his head. "I can't believe he hasn't told you this. It's not something you forget over night." Guy frowned. He didn't know why, but this betrayal by Hood actually hurt. Guy had swallowed a lot of pride to work side by side with him; the least he could do was acknowledge him.

She stood up again with his help, a bit of mud clinging to her dress. She leaned down a bit to try to brush some of it off so she wouldn't look dirty for the rest of the day, but she failed. She still had the look of confusion on her face with all that he spoke of. "Archer? How appropriate." The both of them were very good shots with the bow, though she had to admit that Robin was a bit sharper.

She looked around herself and figured that he was very confused about what was going on in this place, but they were focusing on thier lives back home. "None of that matters now that we're here. Do you need me to help you find your room?"

Guy almost managed a smile. Trust his mother to think of a name like Archer. "He has a birthmark in the shape of an arrow head... that's why they named him Archer. My mother...Hood's father." He didn't like thinking about the way his mother had betrayed his father, but it was a fact of life. It had all happened so long ago; 23 years ago. It didn't matter.

Apparently she felt the same about what had happened back home. To be honest, he was glad. He had been praying for a second chance for so long, and now he had one. He must make the most of it; not linger on the past. He was here now, whether he liked it or not. He was here, and so was Marian. What more could he ask for?

He nodded. "I have no idea where I am or what I should be doing..."

Marian smiled at the thought of the two of them having a mutual brother, though she had thought all of thier parents had past away when the two of them were very young. She knew that Robin had been practically raised by Thornton. Then she laughed at his words of confusion.

"Alright. The guards at the library should have given you a box" She paused not knowing how to phrase it. She knew it was called a phone now, but she hadn't known what it was when she arrived. "a device. It should tell you where your room is."

Guy frowned. He had been very confused at the library, but he did remember something being shoved into his hands. He hadn't liked the look of it. He'd tucked it away inside his doublet and tried to forget about it.

Nodding a little, he reached a hand inside the leather and pulled it out. He wrinkled his nose. "What is it for?" he asked, still looking at it in confused manner. "What does it do?" It beeped ominously. Guy nearly dropped it. "Here..." he said, thrusting it towards her. "You can have it. I don't want it."

She smiled at his confusion. It was entertaining to be on the other side of this conversation. She shook her head pushing his hand back toward him. "No. You need that, but let me show you how to use it."

She moved so she could see the screen of it and that he could as well. She pressed a few buttons to show him that was the message that told him what his room number was. "That's you're room number. See all the buttons with the letters on them. Those are how you spell the words to make messages to other people."

Guy looked down at the box think again as she pushed it back towards him. He still wasn't happy about it, but at least it meant spending longer with Marian. After so long believing he'd lost her for good, every moment was a blessing. He glanced down at her, just taking in the sight of her, as she moved beside him.

She was so close and he could smelly her perfume clearly now. It made it difficult to concentrate on what she was saying. Still, he managed to drag his attention back to the little box thing and watched, trying not to show his apprehension. It all looked very confusing. He'd never been particularly good at writing, and he doubted this box would make it any easier for him. He nodded to let her know he was keeping up.

Marian looked over at him as he nodded to her about how to use the device, but she could tell he wasn't really understanding her. She laughed to herself for a second before turning so she was facing him

"I know it's a bit confusing, but I promise you'll get the hang of it." She put her hand on his shoulder, offering him a small smile to hopefully comfort him. "Now let's go find your room."

Guy couldn't help the deep breath he took when he felt her hand on his shoulder. It was such a soft touch; the kind only Marian had ever given him. It always made his pulse quicken. Of course, the ring on her finger on his shoulder went a little way to dispell the shivers running through him.

"You know where it is?" he asked, frowning. It seemed strange that she should know her way around this foreign city so well. Perhaps it would be easier to just imagine this was where she'd been the whole time, since the Holy Land. Not dead, just living somewhere else.

Marian let out a soft laugh once more. His room number was plain as day on the front of the device, and she had also learned there was a map to use in it as well. She again showed him the room number, and then brought up the map. "That is where it is, and the number would be on the door."

She then took a few steps away from him in the direction his room would be in, picking up the fabric she had just purchased and putting it under her arm.

Guy looked down at the device, saw the room number she had pointed out, and nodded. When the map appeared, however, he was lost again. He'd just have to let her to the directions today. He was sure he'd get better at it in time.

He stood still for a moment, watching her move away before making a move to follow her. "Shall I help you carry that?" he asked. He wanted to make things as easy for her as possible. He owed her at least that after what he'd done, even if she didn't seem particularly bothered by it.

When he offered to help her carry the fabric, she turned to smile at him. He had always been nice to her, and she knew it was because he had feelings for her, so she was hesitant to let him. She did not want him to think there was anything there now, since she was with who she wanted to be with, Robin. "You do not have to do that, Guy."

She had always been very independant, and she hoped he would remember and undstand that. "Though it is very kind of you to ask."

Guy frowned slightly but nodded. She never had let him get close to her. All he wanted to do was help, show her he was at her mercy; her slave. But he should have known she would reject him again, the way she always had.

He sighed but followed her without question. This was still all so strange for him, so perhaps it really would be best to just walk and not talk any more. They, according to her, were stuck here, so there would be more than enough time to catch up when Guy was in a better frame of mind.
