WHO: Marian and Guy
WHERE: The Market
WHAT: Looking for fabric to make a new dress/ Guy's Arrival
WHEN: Saturday, Early afternoon.
Rating: PG
Status: Closed/ Complete

Marian had grown tired of the clothes she had been given when the time had changed. She had liked the clothes of the other century much better than the clothes of this one. She had decided to go to the market to acquire some fabric in order to make a dress that would better suit her and would look more like the clothes she used to where when she had been home in England.

She was standing at the fabric stall, pleasantly speaking to the man who owned the stall. She pulled up a piece of fabric she liked every now and then asking if it was easy to work with or not. She finally decided on a light green fabric and purchased it from the nice man. As she stepped away from the stall, another storefront caught her eye. It was a jewelry store, and the broaches where what she was pulled in by. She stood there for a moment, eying them through the window.

Guy had been wandering for what seemed like hours since being escorted out of the large building full of tomes. He had no idea where he was, or what he was doing here. He'd been angry at first, then confused, then terrified; now he just felt numb. Everything was so different. This morning he'd been in the forest; not particularly happy, but at least in his own time. Now, he had no idea where or, more importantly, when he was. There were things he had seen while wandering these strange streets that he'd never believed possible in his wildest dreams. The windows of the buildings were covered with clear glass instead of the rough wooden shutters he was used to. The men wore strange, uncomfortable looking outfits made of stiff, dark material with high white collars beneath.

Guy shuddered, tugging slightly at his leather doublet. He knew he couldn't stay out here all day, but he didn't know where he was supposed to be going. At the library, one of the guards had mentioned something about a network, whatever that was when it was at home, and a room number. However, if Guy was supposed to know what any of it meant, it was beyond him.

Sighing, Guy stopped. His feet were hurting and he wasn't getting anywhere. In fact, he was pretty sure he'd been around in a circle about three times now. He didn't want to... but he was accepting that he'd have to ask someone directions. The question was, who? He looked around. The few people walking by all looked completely immersed in their own lives. Guy was about to turn and see if there was anyone walking towards him in the opposite direction when he saw someone standing still a little way off.

Guy could feel his pulse race. He hadn't seen her for months; not this clearly, at least. He’d thought, when he started putting things right in his life, that she'd be satisfied and finally leave him in peace. Some nights, he wished she was still there, haunting him, just to fill his loneliness, but she had never come. He used to wonder if she visited Hood, but he'd never asked. He didn't really want to know. For those few months, she had haunted him, and he wanted to believe that experience was unique. After all, he had been the one who'd ended her life. He had been the one so consumed by jealousy that he couldn't bear to see her with anyone else. He deserved to be haunted. Still, the emptiness he had felt when she'd finally faded was far worse than any guilt. Until then, he'd still felt an echo of the anger he'd felt when she'd said those words; "I'd rather die than be with you, Guy of Gisborne. I'm going to marry Robin Hood. I love Robin Hood." However, when she was gone, all that mattered was that he had destroyed the only woman he had ever loved. He had taken something pure and good, and turned it to dust, just as he had done all his life.

But he had learned to live with that, with the guilt and loneliness. He hadn't expected it to all come crashing back down. He hadn't expected to see her again. Why was she haunting him now, when he was already so confused? And if this was a dream, why couldn't he wake up?

Guy gulped, he was aware he was staring. He blinked, but she was still there when he opened his eyes again. It was strange; he was looking straight at her but her image was still there. Usually she kind of drifted off to the side. He had used to find it hard to focus on her, but now he was staring straight at her. And she looked so real, so tangible, like if he reached out and touched her, he'd feel the gossamer of her gown, the silky softness of her long, dark curls. Guy took a shaky breath, not sure what to do. He should ignore her, walk on by. He didn't want to give the ghost the satisfaction of messing with his head all over again. She was just a part of his brain, a figment of his imagination, trying to stir up the emotions inside him. He should just ignore her, but he knew he couldn't.
