WHO: Marian and OPEN
WHAT: Walking around the city, trying to learn how to get places
WHEN: late afternoon
WHERE: outside building A
RATING: TBD
STATUS: OPEN, Incomplete

Marian had had enough spending time in her room and trying to learn about most of the objects that were around her. She much enjoyed walking around, so she decided that was what she was going to do. When she had found her room, most of her clothing was already there, as well as a nice bed for her to sleep in. She grabbed her hooded cloak and left the apartment wondering when she would meet this Buffy that was supposed to be living there as well.

When she made it out the door, she realized she didn't know enough about this place to just go for a walk, and decided it would be a very conscious walk, because she would have to remember every turn she took in order to learn a bit about where things were as well as be able to make it back to her room.

"It is quite alright. Do not worry." She gave a smile to make the man feel better. She started looking around once more trying to commit most of what she saw to memory so she would have learned part of the area.

"And I never thought that what he is doing would have been remembered for so long." With a bit of a chuckle on the end. She really never expected that one.

"Well what he's doing was important to a lot of people," he said, smiling at her.

"Is there anywhere in particular you'd like to go?" he asked.

She lowered her head, looking at the ground after he said that. She missed her home. She had gotten used to some of the technologies that made life easier, but she still wanted to go home. "It is most definitely important to the people of Nottingham. The sheriff knows he's starving the people, and yet he keeps making the taxes higher."

She then stopped moving to look at him a second. "Nowhere in particular. I need to learn my way around."

"I'm sorry. I know you must miss home. I miss my home too but I'm lucky enough to have the most amazing person I've ever met here and we're having a baby. But I understand that being here can be a lot harder for other people. If you ever need to talk about anything, I'd be more than happy to listen.'

She took a breath after he spoke and nodded once more. "Thank you, and in all honesty, I probably will. That is wonderful for you and your wife." It wasn't her fault. People were married before they had children in her time. If they weren't married, they certainly didn't advertise that they were having a child. "I do wish Robin were here, but I don't want him to be stuck either. As per the legend, he has more important things to do."

"She's not my wife," he said. 'Not yet,' he added in his head. He did hope that one day she would be his wife.

"It seems to be a theme in my family, having children before you're married. It's really not that uncommon where I'm from. I understand in your time it would have been."

He nodded. "I understand what you mean," he said.

Her mouth dropped open in surprise and embarassment. "Oh. I apologize. Of course. Times must have changed." She didn't really understand how it could be acceptable to have children out of wedlock, but she couldn't offend this man either, especially since they were from such different times and cultures.

"It is nice that you have someone here, though."

"Yes, it is. And Brooke is amazing. We got back together here," he said.

"Would you like to walk around the park? It's nice there," he suggested.

She smiled at the thought of this man and the girl he loved. It must have been so nice to have her here with him. "I would love to see the park. What is a park?" They didn't have places like that in Nottingham. They weren't needed because if a person wanted to go out into nature, they could go into Sherwood.

"It's a place you can walk through that full of trees. It's sort of like a forest but there's a path through it and there's a playground for children," he said, hoping that he'd explained it in a way she would understand.

"I think I understand, though in my time, children just play in the forest, there is no specific ground for them to enjoy themselves." She made a move to keep her hands behind her back and walk with her head held up, like she was a noble, which she was. "Which direction is this park in?"

"It's this way," he said, pointing in the direction of the park. He offered her his arm, smiling at her.

"I'd be happy to take you there, M'lady," he said, grinning.

She smiles and takes his arm as he offered it. "Thank you, sir." The fact that he had said M'lady didn't make any difference to her, it was common for her to be called that in Nottingham. She suddenly became curious so as to keep the conversation going as they walked. "What is the world like in your time?"

"It's a lot more built up than in your time. And we don't travel by horses, we use cars. And there is a lot more technology. It's supposed to be a lot more improved than your time, but sometimes I wonder," he said, Keith in particular came to mind. At times he could still hear the gun shot resonating in his head.

"I noticed that there weren't any horses around, and there were very strange contraptions moving on the roads. So those are these cars, you mean?" The look on her face purely inquisitory. She just wanted to understand all the differences in the world and the technology. It was all so interesting to her. "It's not better?"

"Yes, they are," he said.

"Well, it's better in ways. But I guess with there are imperfections to every time. I'm sure there are things about your time that aren't as good as times before yours. I'm probably not making a lot of sense."

As she began to think about that, she realized he was right about her time. Her world was a much better place when her father was the sheriff and before Robin went off to the Crusades. "I think you might be correct about that."

"Then again, there are things about my time that are better," he said.

She broke from his arm and took a few steps foreward into the park and noticed the clear path through it and there were much fewer trees than in a forest. "It is very... pretty." She much preferred the forest she knew. You couldn't run into this park and dissappear like you could in Sherwood.
