Merlin stuck his head in the door and grinned when he finally spotted Severus in one of the beds. "Severus!" He smiled and hurried into the room, glad that he finally got the right room. He'd ended up talking to some old lady for a half an hour on his first try, feeling bad for leaving cause she kept calling him 'son.' He sat down on the end of the bed, brandishing a back pack full of stuff he'd picked up for the potions master. He'd taken a little longer getting here then he'd intended. The first day he decided to visit he'd run into Wyatt and Chris, and today there was the minor delay caused by his magical mishap. Still, it made for some interesting stories to share with Severus if he was interested (even if he wasn't, Merlin would probably tell him anyways.)

"So I brought some food. Fruit, snickerdoodles - I don't know why they're called that, but they are really good cookies, a sandwich or two..." He explained, pulling out a brown paper bag first with the snacks, and a few bottles of water and juice. These all went on the nightstand before he noticed the little rolling table that he promptly pulled forward to lay out everything else. Three books, a boxed board game, a book of puzzles, a little plastic stand...

"I wasn't sure what you'd like, so this one is Sherlock Holmes. That is a Midsummer's Night Dream. This is poetry." Merlin would've gotten comedies or romances, but some how he figured Severus wouldn't have the same tastes as him. The lady at the book store helped him pick these out. He then put the black plastic stand on top of them, it would hold the books up and open so Severus wouldn't have to hold it himself. "This stand will hold the book for you to read."

Then there was the wooden box, a folded chess or checkers board with the pieces held inside. The book had word searches, scrambles, sudoku, and other time consuming games that he thought might be okay since Severus had one good hand. "Good? Did I forget anything?"

"Sounds like you should find a secure, distraction and kitty free place to practice magic," Severus remarked when Merlin was done explaining his mishap with magical experimentation. "What about that warehouse you found months ago, where you stayed when that demon was around, messing with all of our minds?"

Severus was a bit jealous of Merlin, being able to experiment with magic was an activity completely denied to Severus at the moment. He briefly wondered when he would get his wand back.

"You could always try your hand at getting me out of here."

"That's a good idea. It'd probably be safer." That way if he messed up he would be the only one to get in the way of the effects. At least no more fire breathing kittens. It would probably have to be cleaned up though. Maybe he could try cleaning things to the music like in the movie. It would be fun, more so then normal cleaning anyways.

"You're still hurt though. You should at least stay 'till you're all healed up." Merlin said. That and Lucy said she was trying to help him with his drinking and stuff too. He really wasn't sure that it was a good idea to help Severus out. Not now. Maybe once he was physically all patched up, it will have been long enough? Because he'd hate to have to just say no outright.

Severus rolled his eyes, "I'm good to go home, the hospital has technically released me, I don't need to stay in a hospital to heal, physically," Severus explained. "No, I am here because Dr. Van Pelt, who is a psychologist. She placed a hold on me, I can't leave because of her."

"Which..." Severus continued, looking Merlin quite openly, hopefully, "is where you can help me. If I don't need to be here to heal, no reason to, right?"

Merlin had the decency to look apologetic, or guilty, perhaps a little of both as he looked awkwardly to the bed sheets. He didn't want to say no, in fact, he really did want to help Severus, but helping sneak out would probably do more harm then good. "I can't. She'll let you out soon, but maybe -- maybe you should hear her out first."

Merlin looked sincere, of course he did. Not that he figured Severus would be too pleased anyways. Still, he continued, a little softer now. "She said she wanted too help you stop drinking."

"She's just full of psycho-babel, hocus-pocus," which was an odd thing for Severus to say, especially in a conversation with Merlin, seeing as they were both wizards. "I don't need to stay here for that," Severus finished glumly, he knew trying to wheedle his way out of this place assisted by Merlin wasn't going to happen. His friend meant well, but just like Lily Merlin would hide behind 'Dr. Van Pelt said...' If this was happening to anyone else Severus would have to admire the woman's skills, a sly, cunning, woman she was.

"And I don't have a drinking problem," Severus desperately wanted to cross his arms... but with one arm held out away from his body as it was made such an act extremely difficult. The way Severus saw it his father had a drinking problem, not him.

"No? So all that happened while you were sober?" Merlin looked up at Severus at his little declaration, then to his injuries pointedly. He would feel bad about not helping him escape this place, but wouldn't let Severus lie to either of them about something so obviously wrong. And if Severus didn't know that he most certainly did have a drink problem, Merlin knew at least that he was right to leave his friend here with the hope that Lucy could get through to him better.

"You were drinking yourself sick, constantly. When you drink enough to end up in a hospital -- it's a problem."

"No, this," Severus waved his hand to indicate his body, "happened when I was drunk, not because I was drunk. There is a difference." As far as the fighting was concerned, Severus was correct, the alcohol was only a means by which to causing a fight - normal people on a street weren’t easily provoked into a fist fight. Drunks in bars, on the other hand, responded just how Severus wanted. However, that wasn’t to say Severus didn’t have a drinking problem.

But Severus still vehemently deny such allegations.

"I was not drinking myself sick," Severus countered, he’d only, maybe drank to the point of vomiting maybe twice in the past month... or the month leading up to his hospitalization as he’d not had any alcohol since then.
