Buffy needed new clothes. Now, usually Buffy would have had an outfit for every occassion but since her trip to Wonderland, she'd had to restock her closet. This was, so far, the only plus about this place. Shopping was both fun, distracting, and theraputic. She just wished her Willow was here. She brushed a stray hair out of her eye and stared into the window of a shop advertising the sale of some really ugly jewlery and she frowned. At least some things weren't so different.

She sipped her mocha latte and turned her back on said not-so-great shop. She wondered how her mother was doing, which was a sure fire way to get a catatonic Buffy, so she did her best to keep her thoughts away from that line of thinking. She hadn't been the social Butterfly here in Colligo. She was suddenly back in L.A. and feeling like Anne. She knew there were people here from her world and that should be some sort of comfort, but it wasn't because they weren't really her people. They were older which was way strange. Still, maybe Buffy needed to stop being a whiny and solitary Buffy and at least attempt to reach other. Maybe even meet other people.

It was suddenly the first day of school and Buffy hated the new girl thing. She'd forgotten how to handle that.

Wes liked to get his Christmas shopping done as early as possible. Not that he ever had many people to shop for, and especially not now with Cordelia gone once more. But he still had Fred and, no matter what else happened, he was grateful for that.

He was walking down the street, having just stopped at a cafe for some tea, when he spotted a familiar blond. He had to pause a moment to marvel at how very young she was...but then, he imagined, he must also look quite different than she expected, without any suits or slicked down hair and with added scars. He almost walked by her, but then he stopped. "Hello, Buffy," he greeted her politely.

The voice was familiar and her instant reaction was first a frown because she would totally be stuck with the lamer Watcher in this reality. Was it too much to hope for Giles to show up? God. She must be hitting an all tiem low if she was wishing Giles were around to keep her entertained. She did her best to sport a smile and instead, her eyes widened.

"Wesley?" She blinked. He was definitely scruffier. And broodier than he was when she'd left. Future Wesley, she thought, this is a trip. He looked way better this way. In a disturbing way, of course. "Hi." It was the only she could think of to say. She was still processing nerd to...thing that is not nerd but definitely disturbing.

Daylight, a vampire's greatest enemy and here in Colligo, even if the sun was of a different star than the one that illuminated Earth, the rays emanating from it were just as lethal. So it was in shadowed alleyways that Angel had access to via the various sewer entrance and exit points that he'd learned and memorized since arriving here that he lingered. As much as he'd like nothing more but to step out into the sunlight, it would only result in him turning into a great, useless pile of dust and he was long over his suicidal tendencies.

When he spotted a familiar patch of blonde hair coming down the street, however, he couldn't help but edge as close to that line that separated the shadows in the alley from the sunlight in the street to call out to her.

"Buffy."

Angel?

Had that been her hopeful ear? Her brow furrowed and she tilted her head slightly almost as if looking any quicker might make it less true or somehow a cruel trick. When she finally turned, though, there he was and she was overcome with an emotion she hadn't felt in quite some time: relief. Her brow furrowed, she blinked, and stared at him. Was he real? Or was this her imagination's cruel way of playing a joke?

"Angel?" she said softly and took a few steps forward into the shade and pressed a hand on his chest. The confirmation that yes this was a solid, fleshy, real person from home was enough to make her feel... There were no words. She wrapped her arms around his neck and said, "God, it's so good to see you."

Her reaction, nevermind how her features didn't appear to be as hardened as the Buffy he'd handed that amulet over to in a now-destroyed Sunnydale, told him how old she was. Still in high school, he guessed. Which meant she was still with him. Not him, but the man he used to be, before LA, before Darla's resurrection and Connor, before he'd taken over Wolfram & Hart-- and quite possibly before he'd lost his soul the first time.

That doesn't change that it's good to see her, for it is. Time differences or not, Angel's always happy to see her and he gladly returned that embrace. "Buffy."

She'd forgotten how much being in his arms made the world feel safer. Her world and otherwise. It probably took a minute too long before she pulled away (albeit reluctantly), and gave him a good look. She hoped beyond hope that it was her Angel, but her luck wasn't very great in this place.

"I wasn't sure if I'd ever see you again," she said quietly, brushing some hair out of her eyes. She glanced around and motioned for them to go into the nearest building. Mostly so that a certain someone wouldn't burst in to flames.
