Lily had simply been sitting in her living room reading a magazine and sipping on a cup of hot tea. This sudden weather change made her feel chilly all the time, but she didn't mind so much. She loved having an excuse to put on fluffy sweaters, boots, and to drink hot tea again. The weather had been so nice that she had felt resigned to iced drinks.
Her television remained mostly untouched. It wasn't dusty, but it might as well have been for all the times she used it. She was half afraid that she would turn it on one day and see one of those movies about her son's life. That would have disturbed her deeply. No matter what anyone said about how she needed to know the things in those books, she still wouldn't read them. It would be prying into her son's personal life. She was just overjoyed to know he had a personal life. That was all she needed to know, that he lived.
Her lips pursed when she heard a knock at the door. She wasn't expecting visitors. She doubted it was Severus. Their relationship still seemed strained. If he wanted something, he would have simply sent her a message on the PDA rather than walking down the hall to her door. Curious now, she got up off the chair and called, "Coming!" She dropped her magazine on the floor and made her way over to the door.
Upon opening the door, she was immediately struck by how much it looked like a young James standing in the hall. The little picture on the PDA didn't do him justice. It could only be one person. "Harry?" she asked, both expectant and confused. But after only a second, a smile broke across her face. "It's so good to see you! Please, please, come in," she offered, opening the door for him.
