WHO: George Kirk & Amanda Grayson
WHAT: Unexpected Arrivals
WHERE: Outside the Library
WHEN: Before this
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

This...was a library. It wasn't often that a starship looked like a library unless one was in the library of a starship, but this was most definitely a library. She had to have ended up in the wrong place. Her eyes lifting to the empty spot where her son should have been standing, Amanda was more than certainly of it. She was in the wrong place. It was really such a shame that she didn't know what that place was other than a very immense library. But all answers come in time, and when one was deposited into the middle of an unfamiliar library by sheer dumb luck, one does not pass up the opportunity to peruse the reading material.

Amanda had to say that she was more than disappointed when each book that she opened was blank, "What's the use of a book without pictures or conversation?" Amanda recited, quietly amusing herself as she tried another. Still blank. What's the use of a library for blank books? the sound of melt on melt, however, distracted her from her attempt to read nothing. Eyes lifting from the blank pages, the line of animated suits of armor heading towards her provoked a soft, surprised noise.

Curiouser and curiouser. This place certainly seemed odd. How far off had the transporter beam thrown her? She couldn't recall any planets near Vulcan with this sort of life or technology.

As they closed the distance between them and her rather rapidly, snatching her by both arms, Amanda was taken off guard, a frustration building her gut, "Get your hands off of me, you melt monstrosities!" She growled, yelping as she met with the pavement outside the library face first soon after, something that looked similar to a comms device laid next to her before the knights retreated inside, closing the doors behind them. By then, she had flipped over onto her rear, glaring up at the doors with a huff.

"And stay there!"

"Do you see a grocery store down the line?" Amanda asked, pushing up on her tip-toes and extending her view as far down the street as she could manage. It seemed the most likely place to find other people. While recreations were nice and would most likely be necessary someplace like this, food was the one requirement. It was impossible to say exactly how the natives got nourishment, but she knew how she did. "Seems like the most likely place to find others, if there are any here."

Even if there were far more interesting buildings on the strip, they had set out for a purpose, after all. They could explore more once they found what they had started looking for. And then again, if they were the only ones here... Well, they could worry about what that might mean later.

"After you," She said, grinning back at him as she gestured towards the street.

Being taller, George had a somewhat better line of sight and put it to good use looking for what she'd asked. It made sense, he admitted, and had a feeling that there were very few times when the woman beside him didn't make sense more than likely.

"It looks like there's a grocery at the far end, that way," he commented, giving her another grin and shrug before heading in that direction. A few of the shops they passed manage to catch his eye - everything from trinkets that appeared to be straight out of the late twentieth century to clothing from a similar period, all the way down to a small pet menagerie with yipping puppies and purring kittens in cages lined in front of the store.

"Whatever this place is, it seems to want us to settle in for the long haul," George commented as he took his gaze from the pet shop back to Amanda. After all, a pet - if nothing else - was a pretty long-term commitment as far as he was concerned.
