Who: Lucas and Brooke, CLOSED
Where: Building C.
When: Wednesday evening.
What: Brooke and Lucas hang out and watch a movie.
Warnings: None.

Lucas knocked on the door to Brooke' apartment. He'd bought the Wizard of Oz on DVD and had bought some junk food for them, including chocolate chip cookies.

He waited for her to answer. Despite being stuck in this weird place, it was nice getting to spend some much time with her. It'd been too long.

She grinned at him. "Not awful," she said.

"The food's almost ready, if you want to shower here you can," she told him.

"I've got no clean clothes with me. I'll just pop back to my place. I'll be alright back," he said.

He headed back to his place and took a quick shower. He dressed in a blue t-shirt and jeans and went back to her place.

"Smells good," he said, smiling at her.

She was just serving up the pasta when he came back in.

She grinned at him. "It's really not fancy, I haven't mastered the whole cooking thing," she said. "I can just about not starve."

"Well not starving is always a good thing," he said, grinning at her.

He walked over to her. "You need help with anything?" he asked.

"Nope, all done," she said, grinning at him.

She served up the last of the food. She picked up the plates.

"Ready?" she asked him, walking over to the couch. She'd already set up the DVD.

"I sure am," he said.

He grabbed some cutlery and walked over to the couch with her.

He waited for her to start the movie. It'd been a long time since he'd seen The Wizard of Oz and like now, he'd watched it with Brooke. But they'd been dating then.

She set her plate on the coffee table when she was done eating and leaned back on the couch. He was leaning back now, too, and she shifted on the couch and leaned against him a little.

For the first time since she'd arrived here, she felt almost at home.

He smiled at her when she leaned against him and wrapped his arm around her, smiling at her for a moment. He rubbed her shoulder for a moment.

He turned back to the movie.

Brooke sighed. "Those ruby slippers would be good right about now," she said.

He looked over at her and gave a sympathetic look.

"I know what you mean. People here don't seem all that friendly. Oh I forgot to mention, my car is here. The car Keith gave me. There was information on the PDA about where to pick it up."

She looked up at him.

"Really?" she asked. "That's cool," she said.

"But how'd they get your car here?" she wondered. This place made no sense.

"I have no idea," he said.

"But it's pretty cool. It's like I always have a part of him with me. First Lily and know the car he gave me ended up here."

She smiled at him.

"That is cool," she said, softly.

She looked up at him. "You're so strong," she said quietly. "Sometimes I don't know how you get through it all."

He looked over at her.

"I get my strength from my mom. When I had the heart attack I saw him, and he told me he was always with me. And you helped me get through it a lot. You're a lot stronger than you know Brooke Davis. You been through so much and you're this amazing, brilliant, kind, caring, brave and beautiful person."

She nodded. Karen was so strong.

She was a little surprised when he said she'd helped him. Whenever she thought about what happened back then, she always wondered if she'd done the right thing to help him through it all. It had been so hard to see him hurting and not be able to do anything to help him.

Just like Lucas was being now. She gave him a small smile. She wasn't sure she fully believed him, but hearing him say it meant a lot to her.

"Thanks," she said softly.

"How is your mom doing?" she asked. She hated how out of touch she was with everyone back home.

He shrugged. "I don't really know. She's been traveling a lot. I get postcards from her every few weeks."

He'd been trying hard not to think about it but he really missed Nathan, Haley and Jamie.

"It's hard, being away from the people you love. Jamie is growing up and since we can't get back...." he trailed off. He had no idea if he'd ever see Jamie again.

He took his wallet out of his pocket and took out a picture of Jamie. "He's gotten big huh?" he asked, showing her the picture.

"I think it's good she has Andy," she said, quietly. "She'll always love Keith, I know, but it's nice that she has another chance to be happy."

She sat up when he pulled out his wallet. Her eyes widened when he showed her the picture.

"Oh wow," she said. "He's such a little boy! Oh, how gorgeous is he?"

She felt so bad that she hadn't seen him in so long. "God, I'm the worst Godmother ever."

"Yeah it is. I'm glad that she's happy and I like Andy. It's great for Lily too, having a father figure. Andy can be like Keith was for me."

"I know. He's really smart too and is playing basketball now and everything."

He turned to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. "No you're not. He understands. And you've been really busy with the company."

He didn't think that that would be much consolation for Brooke but he didn't want her to feel bad.

"You're an amazing godmother and Jamie is lucky to have someone as amazing as you as his godmother. But you shouldn't feel bad for pursuing your dreams."

"Oh, do you have a picture of her?" she wondered. "She must be huge too."

She looked at him and smiled slightly.

"That's sweet of you to say but I should put him before the company. All of you. I haven't talked to Haley in months," she said, biting her lip.

She swallowed and looked down at the picture again. "One thing being here has made me realise is it's not worth it. Nothing's worth missing this little guy's life."

"Yeah I do," he said, smiling.

He took a picture of Lily out of his wallet and handed it to her.

He wrapped his arm around her and looked down at the picture of Jame and Lily.

He nodded quietly when she said nothing was worth missing Jamie' life. He didn't know if he'd see Lily and Jamie again.

She looked up at him and kicked herself.

"Oh, Lucas, I'm so sorry," she said, turning to him and pulling him into a hug.

"We'll get out of here," she said. "Someone'll find a way."

He hugged her back.

"It's alright. It's not your fault. And while I miss them a lot, it's nice spending time with you. I'm really glad that I'm not here alone and though I wouldn't choose someone to end up here with me, I'm glad that it's you."

She nodded.

"Yeah, I know what you mean."

She squeezed him tightly.

Something caught her eye on the TV and she smiled, pulling back. "The scarecrow," she said, grinning. He was her favourite.

She turned to watch the movie again, leaning against Lucas.

He smiled at her and wrapped his arm around her, looking back at the screen to watch the rest of the movie.
