For as old as he was, Jack still sought the approval of the Doctor much like an over-excited puppy waiting to see its master and proving that it didn't piddle on the floor all day and oh boy, is it time for a walk yet? In truth, he probably always would want that approval, craving it like no other. It made no sense logically, not in the number of times the Doctor repeatedly pushed Jack aside. But still... he didn't profess to be logical all the time.
"I am not," Jack replied, trying to force the smile back onto his face. He knew it didn't quite reach his eyes, though. To anyone else they'd see the jovial captain back in place. Ianto, however, knew Jack well enough to know when something was bothering him -- and Jack couldn't deny that fact either. Though, there were times he wished he could. Damn this whole relationship and Jack falling so deeply in love.
"Both comes later," Jack replied with mock seriousness. God, Jack loved Ianto's facial expressions, loved the way he could elicit those groans tinged with an accent. There was nothing better in the world in Jack's not-so-humble opinion. "There is nothing at all untoward about where my hands are at the present," Jack replied. "You had a long day and I'm simply making sure you haven't worked your arse off." Bad pun number one of the evening. "Probably not. But I figured it would be something boring I could distract you from..." Jack trailed off, a look of abject horror coming to his features. "On second thought? We're getting a horror film. Something that you won't take a sudden interest in watching. Or a document--" he broke off. "No, same side effect. And, for the record, no Bond either."
Jack smiled and regrettably unwound himself from Ianto so they could pick up dinner and come back here as soon as humanly possible. Jack wanted to get back and lose himself in Ianto for a while -- and forget about the fact that he had absolutely nothing to do. Ianto had to know how it was grating on Jack, no matter what he did to occupy his mind. "C'mon. Let's get our coats and get out of here, yeah?"
