Who: Merlin, Gwen, and Arthur later.
What: Movie time!
When: Afternoon
Where: Gwen's Room

Now that the mess with the fears was over with, and he had gotten some sleep, sitting around and watching a movie sounded like a great idea. He'd patched things up with Arthur first thing. Gwen hadn't actually been upset with him, but Merlin felt bad disappearing on them like he did. So hanging out and watching a movie sounded like fun. Especially because he quite liked the popcorn stuff that went with it. He had a nice big bowl of it already made, that he was picking at while waiting for Gwen to answer the door...

Which he realized, would happen a lot sooner if he'd stopped eating long enough to remember to knock. Merlin rapped on the door a moment later, then went back to his search for the more buttery pieces.

Gwen kept glancing at the movie she had been handed at the shop. She couldn't quite remember the title, all she knew was that the woman in the shop said it was funny, good to watch with friends and most men didn't mind watching it. Of course, that last bit about men had been said with a wink.

She looked up at the door when she heard the knock, grinning a little. Opening the door, she quickly took in Merlin to make sure he was okay. When she was satisfied, she let him in.

"It's good to see you."

"Still alive and in one piece." He gave a quick sweeping motion with his free hand as he noticed her giving him a quick once over, as if to make sure he hadn't lost important limbs or injured himself during his 'retreat' from everyone. When she was reassured that all was well, Merlin made his way inside.

"You too." Merlin smiled, having already given her the same sort of look as well to make sure there was nothing obvious about her or laying around the apartment he should worry about. He had checked the network earlier to see what he'd missed, and realized Gwen had upset Arthur at least once with the drinking. He imagined she was probably a bit of a lightweight when it came to alcohol (takes one to know one) so it had only taken a drink or two to get her drunk. Arthur clearly didn't take to well to it, but Merlin saw he'd implied that hadn't been the first time.

"So, I've brought the popcorn, you have the movie -- anything we're missing?"

She flushed a little when he commented on himself, realising he had been caught looking him over. But then she noticed him giving her the same check and didn't feel so embarrassed anymore. Shutting the door behind her, she followed him inside.

"I don't think so," she said before looking a little nervous. "I wasn't the one who picked the movie, the woman in the shop reccommended it when I asked since I didn't know what I was looking for."

Merlin grinned and pulled her over to the sofa. He loved movies. They were so much better then plays, and the things they could do in them. He'd seen one where people had gone to the moon, it had been remarkable. He was sure whatever Gwen picked up would be just as good.

"Here, try some. It's really good." He offered the bowl to her while setting about putting the movie on, and then sat on the sofa cheerfully. There were usually a few minutes of previews so he wasn't particularly interested just yet. Merlin was more curious about why Gwen seemed so nervous. "What's wrong?"

She laughed a little, letting him drag her to the sofa. Sitting down on it, she took the bowl when he offered it to her. Biting her lip, she looked at the popcorn, still a little unsure. But then again, Merlin wouldn't give her something bad. She trusted him that much. Picking up a piece, she popped it into her mouth before smiling.

"Not bad."

She took a few more pieces as he finished setting the movie up, but she still couldn't get over what the woman in the shop had said. At the time she never really thought any of it but now? She was rather worried. When Merlin questioned her, she knew there was no point hiding it.

"Well, the woman in the shop said it was more of a girl film. But if a man was allowing me to choose then I had to choose that one, because normally men wouldn't watch it. We don't have to watch it, of course, we could just...do something else."

Merlin wasn't sure what Gwen meant by a girl film, or why men wouldn't watch it. Unless the lady at the store thought of things like hunting and war to be subjects of a man's movie, in which case he would rather watch a girly movie.

"I'm sure it will be great." He leaned back and smiled as the music for the movie started, taking a handful of the popcorn. "It's probably better. I had a movie recommended to me by a man at a shop one day, and it was all violence and gore." Merlin really had no interest in seeing people fighting, and absolutely hated having seen some new invention of war called guns. Terrible objects.

She smiled a little, leaning back as well and trying to get comfortable. Merlin was willing to try anything she guessed. He had managed to settle here better than any of them, or so she thought. She took a couple of pieces of popcorn, popping them into her mouth.

"Why would someone want to watch a movie like that?" she asked quietly, taking the movie in a little.

"I don't know. It was awful." He shrugged. It didn't make much difference to him. Merlin was careful about what he chose to watch now. He doubted anyone would have given Gwen something like that as well. This certainly didn't seem anything like the video he'd seen. It was a bunch of women so far. They were talking about love which seemed nice enough.

"I can imagine."

The film seemed fine, perhaps a little too much of a girl film. Then again, who was she to say what men liked to watch? It wasn't as if she knew about movies all that well.

"This is ni..."

Her eyes went wide. Were they doing what she thought they were? Her cheeks went bright red, but it was over quickly and she glanced at Merlin, suddenly feeling slightly awkward.

Merlin had looked back at the movie just in time to see the end of a scene that -- well, he was glad it was only a brief clip. He doubted Gwen could manage a brighter shade of red. Glancing at Gwen for a moment, he tried not to make a big deal of it, offering a smile and shrug. Merlin returned to the film. It was just one quick part, surely not something that would happen all through the movie. What was the film called anyways? Something about the city?

"It was probably just that once. It seems nice otherwise..." Merlin suggested.

He seemed so calm about it. How was that fair? Here she was, more embarrassed than she thought she could ever be. Biting her lip, she tried to make herself look back to film. It seemed okay now, and maybe he was right. Maybe it was just for that moment.

"It does. I can see what she meant about it being for women."

Merlin didn't get all flustered about the one scene because he'd only caught the end of it, and was more entertained by how red Gwen had turned to be bothered this time around.

"That's fine. I don't like this time's idea of what a man's movie should be." He was perfectly content with the movie (and the popcorn, of course, which he had another handful of.)

She nodded when he mentioned the idea of a movie more suited to men. She really didn't see the fun in watching such violence all the time. Reaching into the bowl, she looked at a piece of popcorn again before popping it into her mouth.

"You know, I hope I can take some of this popcorn stuff back whenever we go back to Camelot."

"It is supposed to be made from normal corn. I'm not quite sure how, but I'm sure we could find out, and make it when we're returned home." Assuming they remembered anything when they got home, if they got back to Camelot.

As he turned back to the movie again, Merlin wasn't quite sure he understood everything going on, but decided it was a nice enough film. He wasn't sure why the women kept watching people parade up and down in a bunch of odd sets of clothing, or why almost every time the woman named Samantha came up there was a brief clip of rather private moments between her neighbor and other women. He was sure that he was meant to dislike the man named Big, and so he did. It wasn't too bad.

"I'm sure we could."

She was starting to regret this movie, at least watching it with Merlin anyway. He seemed fine with it, but to be honest she was starting to feel slightly embarrassed by it. Especially with Merlin sitting right next to her. When another of the rather private moments came up on the screen, this time with a bonus of even louder moaning, she glanced at Merlin.

"Perhaps we should...turn it down or something?" she said quickly.

"I -- Yes, we probably should. Isn't there a way to speed through certain parts as well?" Merlin commented, looking around curiously for the device that controlled it. Mote? Remote? Something of that sort, with all the buttons.

"Do you know where the controller is?" Merlin asked, leaning across the couch in search of it. He was sure it had been here just a moment ago, digging a hand into the cushions, Merlin fell from his seat in surprise as he hit the wrong button sending the volume up a couple notches.

"There it is." He offered, ears going a bit red as he sat on the floor embarrassed.

She watched as he looked for the controller, looking around for it as well. She really just wanted to skip past all those scenes if there really was a way to do that. Then she heard a bang, looking down to see Merlin lying on the floor. Laughing, she knelt beside him, only to hear just how loud the movie had got.

"Merlin!" she said with a laugh, before reaching over him to try and get the controller from his hand, her cheeks going bright red as she heard the moans from the movie.

"Sorry." He offered a bit sheepishly, shifting slightly, and allowing her to get to the remote. Not that it would do her a lot of good. His fall had knocked the backing off, and the batteries had rolled out someplace. Merlin glanced at the screen, and took note of the volume as he blushed a bit more as well. Leave it to him to make it worse. At least no one was around though.

"Oh - ah, Gwen. That's not going to work." He pointed to the back after a minute, realizing what happened. Searching around himself, he spotted one of the missing batteries, and offered that to her as well. "It has to go in this way."

She stared at the remote, for a moment not knowing what to do with it at all. When he pointed to the empty back, then offered her one of the batteries. Slotting it in after some difficulty, she realised there was another space. Another battery was needed.

"Oh god, Merlin...More. I need more!"

Merlin's brow furrowed, and he looked around again. He didn't see anymore batteries though, and the moans on the television were only getting louder. Of course he would lose the batteries during one of the longer scenes.

He stood to look on the sofa, and around the floor, motioning for her to check under the couch. "Faster, Gwen. Someone is going to hear."

She flushed as the moans got louder, nodding when he indicated that she should check under the couch. Brushing her curls behind her ears, she went onto her hands at knees, looking under it. Grinning, she spotted it, trying to figure a way to get it.

"That's it, Merlin!"

It was hard not to evesdrop when the noise was so loud it was bouncing down the bloody halls. And it wouldn't be nearly so tempting had it not been coming from one particular room where one particular young woman lived, currently by herself.

Arthur leaned against the wall just outside Guinevere's door, eyebrows rising with each passing second. The moans were ridiculous enough. But the side commentary nearly had him in stitches on the floor.

He didn't even bother knocking, simply pushed open the door with enough force it bounced into the wall.

The door snapping open startled Merlin, using Gwen to keep himself from falling over on top of her, his hand rested on Gwen's hip for a moment. Only until he caught sight of Arthur, at which point his hand snapped away, and he tripped backwards, falling onto the sofa. He might have apologized, cause it obviously looked terrible. Looking at Arthur though, the prince seemed entertained by the whole thing. So instead he just remained an impossible shade of red, running a hand through his hair, and spared a glance at the television (which conveniently switched to a different scene). "Um -- Arthur. We were,"

He tapped Gwen and chuckled sheepishly. "We were watching a movie...And the remote broke, the volume -- yeah." He shrugged.

She was just reaching for the battery when she heard a loud bang. Quickly looking to her door, her eyes went wide as she saw Arthur standing there. He didn't seem all that suspicious. She felt Merlin's hand leave her hip and it was only then she realised how this may have looked. She heard the moaning suddenly stop and she was slightly tempted to glare at the machine, wishing it had changed sooner. When merlin tapped her lightly, she pulled back, the battery in hand.

"Yes, what he said," she stuttered a little before putting the battery back in the remote and stopping the movie.
