Who: Severus Snape, Lily Evans Potter, Lily Luna Potter, Hermione Granger, Paige Matthews, and anyone else that would like to help with making the potion to vanquish Barbas.
When: Tonight
Where: The roof of building A
Rating/Warnings: Perhaps swearing ... Severus is bound to be snark-happy cruel (what? he has not slept for days, just like everyone else)
Status: In progress, open.

Under different circumstances Severus would be excited beyond words could express to be brewing potions again. The lack of the ability to just light up a cauldron and start tossing in ingredients just to see what he came up with had worn on him in a way he couldn't fully appreciate at the moment, thanks to that wonderful little demon addition to this place. But finally, thankfully, that was all about to change.

Severus had decided to go up to the roof of building A as soon as Ms. Matthews said that was where they were going to be using that space to concoct Barbas's supposed demise - Severus was more than a bit apprehensive to the 'until' Ms. Matthews had brought up in her explanation of the ingredients and their properties. But this was better than doing nothing, Severus had tried that, and it clearly did not work as he would have liked. Not to mention the display of potion brewing implements that met Severus's eyes when he stepped out on the roof instantly made this whole possibly useless enterprise entirely worth it.

Why had no one told him about this! (of course there was good reason, no one really liked to talk to him, and it wasn't as if he encouraged such communication, but still!)

Cauldrons on a table that was the perfect waist height, mortars, weights and measures, knives and cutting boards aplenty. Severus could almost cry for joy, it was so beautiful. He walked around the table once, the sleep deprivation giving the vision before him a wonderful glow. The only thing missing was the ingredients, if it wasn't for their lack Severus would start without the other.

As difficult as it was for Severus to wait for the others to show up it was heartening to know it might not be long before he could sleep again. And besides, there was nothing stopping him from making sure all the instruments were up to par, a task he set to as quickly as possible.

[OOC: I guess by way of explanation, Severus is by no means the leader in all this, I was just asked by the lovely Jessy to get this thread up to start the plot to take care of Barbas. Everyone is free to jump in, start your own threads for the potion making aspect of this plot, go crazy folks - it's brewing time.

Hermione was eager to get started on the potion-making, but she was by no means excited. She hadn't known about the fear demon when she first arrived, and she'd only just found out about it through Harry the other day. She felt horrible, finding out that many of her friends had vbeen affected by the demon, and yet they hadn't told her about it. She didn't want to be angry or bitter or hurt, but all of those emotions were swirling inside her head at the moment. All the same, she knew she had more than decent skills when it came to potions, having brewed a Polyjuice Potion back in her second year, and she wanted to help get rid of the demon now that she knew about it.

She headed up to the roof of building A at the correct time, only to find that no one was there yet -- no one except for Severus Snape. He'd been a git as a professor, and Hermione wasn't surprised to find that he was a git when he was younger, too. She didn't like him one bit, but she wasn't going to start trouble. They were both here for the same reason.

"Been waiting long?" she asked, wondering how much longer they would have to wait for the others. She hoped they arrived soon, since she didn't really want to be alone with him.

Lily had no idea what was going to happen with this whole potion-brewing thing. She didn't know what tools would be there, what ingredients, or what people. So, in the interest of being prepared, she slung a bag with a few ingredients that she thought might be helpful and a couple books over her shoulder when she left to go to the roof of the building.

Since her last venture walking around at night had ended with a bit of a... well... bang, she opted to Apparate instead. With a loud pop, she suddenly appeared on the roof of building A. Her hair was a bit disheveled from the trip and she had to blow her bangs out of her face. Severus and the girl who had introduced herself via the network as Hermione were the only ones there yet.

"Hello, all. Nice night for demon slaying, yeah?" she asked with a lopsided grin. Nope, not awkward at all.

Severus looked up when Hermione came onto the roof, and instantly scowled. He was willing to reserve judgment over this Paige Matthews' and Lily Luna Potter's potion abilities - but he had read the books and understood Ms. Granger's abilities to be contained within the directions of a book, lacking any skill at stepping outside such strictures; which, in his opinion, made for less than brilliant potions skills. Severus did not think he would have anything to say to the girl, a lack he hardly lamented.

But she wanted small talk!

It was not uncommon knowledge that Severus lacked such skills even when he liked the other person.

He opened his mouth to say something when he was interrupted by the loud pop of Lily apparating to the roof - it was a blessed interruption, now he could rely on Lily to carry on the conversation, leaving him the option to ignore the other girl as much as he wanted.

He smiled at Lily, the scowl instantly evaporating for her. He wanted to ask if she were feeling better, but decided it was better to ask that when others were not around. He would keep the conversation task oriented for now.

"I have not yet tested those devices," Severus pointed to the scales and other instruments at the end of table with his wand, "for measuring accuracy, you two could work on that until Ms. Matthews arrives."

[ooc: so I guess posting order is snape, hermione, lily e. potter, for now, and we will add others as they come in. Also, if you want to start a thread with just two or three characters, go for it, just put the characters involved in the subject line so we all know who can tag there. :) ]

"Sorry I'm late!" Paige said, the sound of her voice coming through before she herself actually materialized in a swirl of white and light blue orbs. "There was this ... thing." Paige waved her hands in a vague manner that was quite like the Halliwell she was. That thing involved Chris being annoying and her pouting about not getting to go slice skin, as gross as it was, but that was a long story and she didn't want to get into it.

Quickly, Paige looked them all over. "So it's just Lily Luna missing?" Her brow's furrowed slightly. She was already on teacher/headmistress/headwitch mode. God, she'd missed this. Who would have thought? "We can give her a few more minutes, to be fair since I was late, but if she doesn't show up iiiinnnnn ...." Paige dragged the word out, looking at her watch, "about ten we're starting without her." Paige had liked the younger witch's idea but they were on a tight schedule. Potions couldn't be rushed as it was so they needed every second they could get.

Looking back up, she noticed that they were all looking at her. She could tell easily enough who they were but she had yet to introduce herself, a slightly sheepish expression crossed her face, as she gave a friendly smile, "Hi, everybody." That sounded high school and awkward. "I'm Paige Matthews, Prue's younger sister and the one handling this part of the show, it's nice to meet all of you. I really, really appreciate you taking the time to help out with this. If you have any questions about me, my sisters, or any more on the potion, just feel free to ask. I'll answer them as best as I can."
