WHO: Angela Petrelli, Gabriel "Sylar" Gray (Nathan Petrelli), & Claire Bennet
WHAT: Family has to stick together.
WHERE: Outside the Library
WHEN: After this
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

Angela shifted nervously from foot to foot as she looked down the streets outside the library. There wasn't any explanation for this. She had never seen anything like this place before, and she wasn't exactly sure how to deal with it. Something this drastic she should have foreseen, and while she hadn't been sleeping well since...since they had built the pyre, she still occasionally got enough time to get the vitals. She would have thought that this would have been one of them. Swallowing over the lump that had formed in her throat, Angela ran her hand lightly over one of the marble decorations that wasn't a hidden living statue until her eyes lifted at the sound of someone approaching. The blood froze in her veins.

Tall and as large as life, the figure out her eldest son was striding towards her. It couldn't be. It had to be Sylar. But how could she tell? How was there any conceivable way to tell the difference? She had been so sure that she could after it had happened, but there had been occasions where it had been almost all too easy to forget. Sylar's acting was just that good. He was too much of chameleon for anyone's well being.

"Ma? Are you all right? You look like you've seen a ghost," Nathan's voice echoed in Angela's ears as a delicate hand reached out, touching her arm in concern as Nathan's eyes peered down at her, shining with a heavy concern as she looked back up at him. She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't going to cry.

"I'm all right, baby," Angela said quietly as she stepped forward, touching his cheek as she examined his face, his eyes, his mannerisms in each for any signs that would let her know which one this was. "It's just good to see you."

A laugh. Nathan's laugh as he grinned that trademark grin, "You're acting like you haven't seen me in months, Ma. This is a trip, isn't it? Any idea what this place might be?"

A pause, a lurch, and her arms reaching out, Angela wrapped them around the neck of the man in front of her, burying her head in his shoulder as tears collected in the corners of her eyes. "I don't know, Nathan. I don't know."

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything."

There was a tinge of amusement in Claire's voice as she approached her biological father and grandmother. It was solely there to hide what she was really feeling - confusion, apprehension, and a slight touch of fear - but Claire wasn't about to admit as much out loud. No, she was finally starting to be seen as a capable woman in the eyes of her family and she wasn't about to mess that up by letting on just how much this whole, weird mess was getting to her.

It was, though. From the moment she'd woken up in the weird library, she'd been freaked out and had only gotten more freaked as events began to unfold. By the time she'd reached her family, she didn't think she'd ever been happier to see them before in her life.

"This place is pretty weird, huh?" she added after a second, peering back up at the library that she'd been so rudely removed from earlier. Looking back to Nathan and Angela, she smiled a little although the expression didn't quite reach her eyes. "Even for us."

"Even for us," Nathan's voice echoed, giving his mother a tight hug before turning back to Claire and offering her a very light smile before his eyes cast out over the area that they were in. Nothing looked familiar. He wasn't sure that anything was even supposed to, but right now, he was more than relieved to have some familiar faces around. He wasn't quite sure what to do when he arrived in the library, when the guards had manhandled him out of the doors. But with the support here now, he was sure that they were all going to be fine.

"So, ladies, where should we start trying to track down the origins of this mystery?" He asked with a hint of misplaced amusement in his voice. "Obviously the library is out considering all of the books are blank. Seems we might have to start with a more solid form of information."

Angela looked up at him with a soft smile, a hand reaching up to fix his mussed hair before looking over at Claire. "Nothing of any significant importance," She said, her heart melting slightly at the good natured eyeroll that that statement provided from Nathan.

"Thanks, Ma. Really."

Claire's smile took on a bit more sincerity at the exchange between Angela and Nathan. She was glad for the small slice of normalcy between mother and son, in a situation that was anything but normal, especially considering how estranged Nathan had been with the bulk of everyone until not very long ago. She tried not to think about it much lest she grow angry or irritated with him again as it was still a sensitive subject, but ultimately Claire no longer hated Nathan for the danger he'd put them in. She'd learned to forgive him during the time they spent together on the run and while she logically knew that Angela had the capacity to forgive in a much larger dose than Claire did, she was still happy to see it with her own two eyes.

At Nathan's question, the blonde teenager re-focused her thoughts on the here and now. "Well, when I first showed up, I went..." She glanced around, finally raising her arm and pointing toward a street that seemed to go on as far as the eye could see. "That way."

With a hint of a shrug, she added as she glanced back to Nathan and Angela, "There wasn't much to see besides a couple of people who refused to help and a few stores that you could find just about anywhere."

"I guess we should go in the opposite direction then," Sylar said as he smiled down at the both of them, a soft affection in Nathan's eyes. Even in a situation like this, with Claire and his mother here, the situation was more than bearable. Whatever this was, they were likely here for a reason even if they didn't know what it was. Maybe if they found out that reason, they would be able to get it over and done with and get home before they were missed. Peter would most likely notice that he, Ma, and Claire had all disappeared.

Hell, Noah would probably notice, too.

"Maybe it'll be a little more lively. At least, we can hope," He said with a soft smile before squeezing Angela's shoulder and offering an arm to Claire.

Angela looked up at the both of them, a soft smile on her face as she nodded in agreement. Whether it was Nathan or Sylar right now wasn't the immediate concern, not unless he ended up becoming a danger again. Instead, they needed to worry about finding a way out of this place.

"We could always split up. Cover more ground."

"No, Ma. We stay together."

Claire took the offered arm, stepping a bit closer to Nathan. Her smile waned a bit at Angela's suggestion. Her brow drew together and she gave a shake of her head. "No splitting up," she agreed firmly with Nathan. They were in a strange place that they'd never heard of and had no memory of even getting there in the first place. Splitting up, to her, seemed like the last thing they should do.

"Just don't expect help from any of the locals no matter which direction we take," she said in answer to her father's decision to go to the opposite way that she'd gone. Part of her - the jaded part that was used to being the reason things went wrong - snidely thought that he would of course choose the opposite of what she had. She was just that bad at making choices, now wasn't she? Claire quickly silenced the small whisper, knowing that wasn't what he'd meant at all. Yes she'd made some bad decisions but it wasn't as though any of them were innocent of that crime. Especially Nathan himself.

Her temporary moment of self-doubt having passed, Claire glanced around curiously before looking back to her family. "Maybe there's some sort of welcome center," she suggested, although her tone was almost joking. It was clear she highly doubted that was the case. Her luck was never that good.

Angela nodded in understanding. Two against one, and she certainly wasn't going to argue. Arguing with a Petrelli was often like trying to reason with a brickwall. Except you tended to actually get farther with the wall. Besides, right now, Angela was far too emotionally and mentally exhausted to actually try and exert any understanding over this situation. "If that's what you two think is best."

Sylar offered Claire a bit of a smile, settling a hand on her arm and giving it a light squeeze, pushing the swirl of...he wasn't even sure what that was...that filtered into his mind at her touch into the very back of his head. He had to be imagining things. He just needed to get some sort sleep. That was it.

"Maybe there's a place for tourists," He said with a laugh, grinning at both of them. "The ones that actually come here on purpose. That is... If anyone even does. It looks...dead around here."

Claire definitely thought that sticking together was for the best and breathed a small sigh of relief when Angela didn't seem determined to separate from them regardless of what they might say or think. She knew how stubborn the woman could be when she set her mind on something, but now wasn't the time for stubbornness. Even Claire realized that much and she wasn't exactly known for thinking things through in a logical fashion. Especially in situations like this.

Not that she'd ever been in a situation like this before. She'd been through a lot, true, but never had she woken up in a library with blank books in a city filled with people who wouldn't even tell you how to leave. This was all going to take some getting used to, if they couldn't find a way out right away.

"Who would come here on purpose?" she mused aloud, nose wrinkling ever so slightly as she peered around before pulling her PDA out of her pocket and glancing down at it. After a few seconds, she said quite simply, "Maybe there are some answers in the rooms they assigned us." Her gaze flickered from the screen to Nathan, then Angela. "You both were assigned rooms, right?"
