Simon nearly burst into #301A but restrained himself. If something really was going on with Kaylee's memories, he'd have to assess the situation calmly. Aggitating her might cause further damage before he could determine what was going on.

Breathing calmly, he knocked on the door and waited for her to open it.

"Kaylee, Wash..." Simon had very little experience delivering bad news, mostly because he was so good he rarely had to. Still, he had told fathers that their sons had died, told wives that their husbands would never walk again, told expectant mothers that they could not save the child.

But he found that experience all meant nothing. He could not bring himself to tell Kaylee that Wash was dead. "Wash hasn't been on the ship for about a month. Tell me, before you found yourself here, what was the date? As best as you can recall."

He looked into her eyes, trying to determine if they were dialating or not, but he kept getting distracted by how bright and beautiful they were.

	That long ago? That was more than most drug or concussion based amnesia's would cause. "Kaylee, I don't know how to tell you this, but you have amnesia. "It's typical for amnesia victims to patch small holes in their memory, so they have no way of knowing that they've actually lost any time. But it's been over six months since we took care of Early."
