10/9 The Embassy Ball

With the Tevenes backing the Orlesian requests for an alliance, Duchess Valmont has arrived in Cumberland to join the negotiations. To honor her arrival and introduce her to Cumberland society, Ambassador de Freyen hosts a ball at the Orlesian embassy. Perhaps as a nod to local customs, the guest of honor insists that any and all of Cumberland’s citizens are welcome to attend.

10/14 Ambitions Awry

An ambitious spell cast by Sabrina Esposito leads to a death - and very unexpected consequences when she is interrupted. In the aftermath, Magister Alexius is forced to issue a public apology, along with assurances that he will submit himself and the other mages in his entourage to examination by the Chantry’s Templars. Ilshae Alerion takes this opportunity to strike, making a very public assassination attempt. Unfortunately for her, she is captured and sentenced to execution. But Warden Commander Frieda Ortan has other ideas...

10/23 Zombies - RUN!

Some of Nevarra’s most influential are highly displeased with the idea of a marriage alliance with Orlais. An Influential Mortalitasi believes that Nevarra doesn’t need Orlais or Tevinter to defeat the Blight - and sets out to prove as much. Unfortunately, the experimental spell he/she attempts is far too large for one mage to control, leaving the city with a little bit of a problem...

10/24 Seven Days of Satinalia

In the final week of the month, the citizens of Cumberland begin to prepare for the festival day of Satinalia, which will come on 1 Firstfall. Gifts are purchased and made, celebrations abound in both noble and common quarters, and masks and outlandish garments become increasingly common sights in the streets. Enterprising local taverns offer specialty seasonal alcohols, including the first taste of this year’s new wines from local vineyards. While the more conservative frown upon such hedonistic displays, those more inclined toward celebration are as likely as not to spend the entire week in varying states of drunken revelry.

10/27 Chantry Board: Masked Mischief

Unfortunately, some of the masked revelry seems to be going a bit too far. Several masked perpetrators are on the loose in the city, playing pranks and committing small acts of vandalism. After enough complaints from various quarters, the chantry puts out a call for someone to find and stop the tricksters. Alia Pentaghast and Raziya Nadhari investigate.

The Chantry received a report of raiders outside the city gates. However, upon investigation, the raiders turned out to be a clan of Dalish elves demanding aid from the king to rescue a group of young hunters that had been taken by Tevene slavers. Although Keeper Talasan attempted to engage the King and the Tevene ambassador, no help was offered. Fortunately, Sorin Ghrian helped Souvelani Alerion to secure alternative aid, and the hunt for the slavers began in earnest.

In a strange twist, Noëlle d’Orly and Godric Tagaris both broke into the Tevene Ambassador’s office in search of information on the slavers. Fortunately, their combined efforts led to the discovery of the slaver lair, and a group of determined fighters was able to take down the slavers and rescued the hunters. The Dalish clan was able to depart peacefully.

Meanwhile, Warden Commander Frieda Ortan called for volunteers to put down a darkspawn outbreak near the city. Upon arrival at the location, however, Asmund Astyth, Caspian Pentaghast, and Midha Aenoch discovered a breakthrough from the Deep Roads in a nearby cave system. After some exploration, the Wardens defeated an ogre and sealed the Deep Roads entrance against future breaches.

Peace in the city appeared to be short-lived, however, when Cesare Alexius reappeared in a high-end brothel in the palace district, surrounded by demons and seemingly set on burning Cumberland to the ground. He could not be reasoned with and was ultimately defeated before he could answer any questions, but in the aftermath, Duke Van Markham’s body was found in the rubble.

plot pc requests
The Embassy Ball plot event is the start of an arc featuring Duchess Valmont of Val Royeaux. This lady, who is being offered to Prince Aurelian as a potential bride in exchange for military aid, will have heavy involvement with political plot over the course of the next 2-3 months. She is open to be apped, as are any members of her entourage. This character’s fate will depend on the choices of the player who picks her up. Suggested PBs: Emma Roberts, Dianna Agron, Margot Robbie. Think mid-20s blonde who is clearly not all sugar. In addition, we have need of a Senior member of the Mortalitasi for events transpiring later in the month. He/she should be 45+. This character will not be required after October’s plot. If interested in this slot, please contact the mods for more information before apping.

Remember that temp PCs are your chance to play a plot character. These characters are not subject to AC, do not count against your character limit, are not subject to class/specialization caps, and are meant to last a short time. For more details, see the Announcements below.

For the plot events that require a limited number of PCs, such the Masked Mischief chantry board quest, sign-ups are located below. The mods will dropbox or e-mail you relevant information in advance so you can log out your plot

For events such as the Embassy Ball that are open to large numbers of characters, there will be a plotting post with more information closer to the date of the event

Don't forget that for your AC, one of your two submissions needs to happen in the first 14 days of the month

Remember that temp PCs are meant to be expendable. What happens to your temp PC will be determined by the needs of the plot. Once you have completed the mini app, mods will contact you with the NPC journal password and instructions for your temp character’s role in plot. Personality: For anyone engaged in the Game, anyone of status in Orlais, she is honest, more than most, if not all. What everyone knows she will say and cut to the point. Her manners are impeccable, still, yet she has caused many a shock or near stumble people with her willingness to say what others imply or only gossip about. It also provides an entertaining candor, since she is willing to disagree with her betters, though it has seemed only to endear her to them. For all that, she's not ignorant of the world she lives in, and she has taken care not to push beyond anyone's tolerance, even those 'below' her in her currently favored status. So she has not made many enemies at court; plenty are jealous, but if they dislike her, it is not because she has sought it out.
