I Said What What - Active Who: Shinji (third_child) and Asuka (antabaka) What: Shinji hardly ever sees Asuka these days. He decides to change that. When: Today afternoon, I suppose. Where: Asuka's room? May change. Warnings: LONG POST IS LONG. And uhm. Angst, almost surely.
Shinji sighed, dropping his head with his arms bent on his desk. In a way, he was glad that the Ghosts had given them a relatively light curse this time around (though he also feared it was some sort of twisted announcement of something much worse yet to come- no, I mustn't jinx it, I mustn't jinx it!), but it was just so... annoying. Typing in that weird language and seeing people spew rainbows whenever they attempted to swear just didn't seem to break any sense of humor to the boy.
...though it did serve a few of them right for being so inappropriately rude all the time.
He was answering the latest comment on his most recent entry. After he pressed 'Send Comment' and his entry loaded again, his attention couldn't help but hover on the private entry he'd written just before the public part, locking on that last sentence.
«I wonder how she feels about this place. She seems glad to be here... in a way.»
...Asuka.
He looked over his shoulder. Kaworu was fairly entertained with his own laptop, probably writing a reply to one of Shinji's comments to further tease him. He pouted at the thought, obviously not amused by it, but turned back to look at the screen glowing and those words haunting him.
He hadn't seen her since... a long time ago. He'd lost her to the coma, she'd come back and he had barely had a chance to talk to her, much less in person. This often put him through a guilt trip or two, but another part of him held him on his seat, telling him he should leave her alone. She seemed like she didn't need him right now.
Not like she ever had ever needed anyone at any time, she said.
That was such an obvious lie.
After a moment of thought (yes- no, I want to- need to-, no, she wouldn't- she'd never- GAH), he stood up, a little suddenly, hand ready to close down his laptop while his other was pressed against the desk's surface. He stared at the laptop, unseeing. Then, he closed it. Kaworu asked him what was wrong.
"I'm going out for a bit." He answered, avoiding eye contact. Kaworu was probably knitting his eyebrows and pulling up some expression that would bribe Shinji into staying. Or guessing what was on the boy's mind and not liking it. Either way, Shinji would never find out, he thought, as he stepped foot into the hall and closed the door behind him, slowly pacing his way to Asuka's room.
