"I died," he replied bluntly. "I accepted an invitation I shouldn't have, wound up too wasted to retaliate, and was hacked to pieces by a lunatic with a chainsaw." He stopped walking around and slid the sheath from his belt, setting it aside, his back to the girl. Something about her made him feel enough at ease to let the blade lie. "...and every time that thing connected, I felt like I was watching a movie, well, besides the pain, that is. After a while, I guess I went into shock because everything stopped, and the next thing I knew, I was back to being in one piece and wishing I hadn't drank anything at all."
Sasuke turned around slowly, dark eyes fixing on her. "I've come close to dying in the past, too. Once on the bridge, and no offense, but you were heavy... then once after he bit me, and watching myself wake up from that as if I weren't actually involved was strange... and then when I took that stupid pill-thing..." He wrinkled his nose in disgust as things he'd learned from his encounter with Grell played through his mind. "I watched him slaughter my family, felt him break my wrist and my ribs in that hallway, and walked away from you without batting an eye. I..." His voice trailed off.
There were other things he remembered, but they didn't seem as important, like his first (and last) kiss, a big funeral, a fight at a waterfall, and the events withing the wall of ice that led up to his near death on the bridge.
