He gave a small, embarrassed shrug, "I guess when they say your life flashes before your eyes, they really mean it." Hearing that his bits and pieces were similar to things that she remembered made him feel a little better, but at the same time, it was hard to listen to her words. There were so many things he wanted to ask her, so many things he wanted to know... and even more that he was afraid to hear.
Moving probably wasn't the best idea, but sitting face to face like that made him feel like he was being put under scrutiny. It was a little difficult to keep from jostling his ankle while she 'worked' -if it hurt, he didn't show it- but he settled down next to her, his leg bent a bit awkwardly to accommodate. "Were we really friends, or were we just thrown together for the sake of filling a space, or enemies or what? I mean, there are times when I feel something toward you, kind of like now, but then there's other times, like when your teammate showed up..." he gave a quiet, sarcastic laugh as his mind worked to find the right words. "Those times, I don't know whether to scream or punch something or just let it go."
He fixed his gaze on the ceiling. Was he losing his mind? Could it be that this place was making him lazy in pursuing his goal? "If I hadn't been in such a hurry to pull off that jutsu to the point of probably screwing something up, would I even be here at all? You can tell me to shut up if you want. I think I'm just talking for the sake of keeping my mind off of what happened."
