The way he was speaking so softly and leaning back was making Sakura comfortable as well, happy that he was able to talk about his mother the way he was. A light blush crept around her cheeks and nose as he continued to explain and mentioned having to take her home with him... but then something must have clicked in his mind because his entire demeanor changed and he was up and alert, eyes widened in her general direction. She started, stumbling through the first few syllables of her response before making it clear. She was not sure what was happening, but she followed his demand nevertheless.
"U-Um I... I remember... o-our first real mission as a team?" She began, unsure if this was the kind of thing he wanted to hear. "We were supposed to escort Tazuna-san, a simple bridgebuilder, to the Land of Waves but... we soon learned... he was being hunted down by a vicious man named Gato." She paused and shut her eyes, trying to remember more details. It was so long ago. "That's when we met Zabuza and Haku. They were hired to kill him. That was also when we learned so much more about Kakashi-sensei. He taught us the importance of looking after our comrades on missions... and he revealed his Sharingan to us." She paused again, shorter this time. "We met Tazuna-san's family: Inari-kun and his mother. The nation was suffering because of Gato and his men and we ended up fighting against Zabuza and Haku on the bridge Tazuna-san was building. In the end those two helped us, though they died. Haku almost killed you as well but... it was only a fake death, to make it seem like you were gone. You were fighting him in some sort of... ice... formation... I'm not sure exactly what it was. I was too far away to see and the fog was so thick at the time." She took a deep breath and opened her eyes again. "Before we left, Tazuna-san named that bridge after Naruto. He had helped inspire all the townspeople and especially Inari-kun."
