Ran wasn't exactly interested in sparring with the brunette, but since Ken seemed insistent on doing it, there was no point in trying to tell him no. It was a part of his life he wished he could shove off in a corner and ignore because he didn't see a point to it anymore. Without Kritiker to order him around and without Aya's hospital stay to support, there was no reason for him to continue fighting... but he'd have to listen to the brunette complain if he didn't show up.
Readjusting one of the belts on his arms to allow for a broader range of motion (he'd opted for his Crasher's coat over his Weiß one for ease of movement), Ran trudged across the sand, intent on getting this over with as quickly as possible. He'd chosen the beach as their meeting place for a reason: while the weather was warming up during the day, there was still a chill in the air at night which meant no one would be on the beach or in the water. It was the best place to avoid anyone getting in the way and to avoid running into any sort of police force. The only thing he wished he could change was the fact that his coat provided little warmth with its open shoulders that exposed bare skin to the air.
He finished with the belt and shifted Shion's saya back to his left hand. Ken may have had more experience on the field, but Ran still had the element of surprise. The other man was accustomed to fighting alongside "Aya", not Ran. He'd do what he could to play that to his advantage, putting a few things he'd picked up from others to use if it came to it.
