Whatever it was he was expecting -and even Soul wasn't sure what that had been- it definitely had not been that.
He's far stronger than Nata but the sheer surprise leaves him unmoving, reeling from the light blow. He blinked twice before looking back to the Navigator, eyes clearer now but still no where near as icy as they had been. The Reaper focuses on Nata and listens, before turning his head and looking away. The words burn him, he hadn't wanted to break that promise. But he did. Lost Soul can't escape that fact.
"I lost the battle against the programming," he says flatly. There's clear regret in his eyes. "I didn't want to kill him. But I lost to it. And broke the coding." He opens one hand and looks down at it, thinking. Almost not noticing when he says softly, "I didn't want it this way..."
He liked Jade, the man was a puzzle. Even when they had both played his game, he'd sensed something from before they ever got serious, a sense that the Necromancer hadn't minded the playful taunts, the plays on words and light scuffle. If it hadn't been for the programming...but no. He can't blame it anymore. All he can do is change. Can't ask for forgiveness. Not from Nata, Jade, Akito...the Reaper doesn't know what to do now.
