Shuro had never really bothered to think too hard about any of what Jade was asking her about, so everything she told him she was seeing in as much a new light as he was. She leaned her elbow on the table and her chin on her hand, staring down into her styrofoam box thoughtfully as she answered, "Sorta. I mean it changed for a while. The closets and the cafeteria stopped working, then the people out in the city started acting normal for maybe about a week before they just up and disappeared. Then when they came back they started this stupid war with us and that went on for . . . I guess it was around a month but it sure as hell felt like longer.
"Then a bunch of the soldier guys blew up their secret weapon and the whole thing just ended. The people out in the city just went back to normal as if nothing ever happened. Then everything else in the building started fixing itself and a few weeks later everything was back to the way it was before."
