He watched the replica through curious eyes, but hid his curiosity. His eyes quickly scanned Luke for any signs of injury. There didn't seem to be any visible. Good, good.
Truth of the matter was, Jade had gotten his confirmation, that Luke was living and breathing and not a trick of the hotel. Even though he, himself, had to experience a curse, he took the replica's arrival with care.
Now that Luke was talking to him, the colonel knew.
His hands never left his pockets when Luke spoke. Jade knew that the red head wasn't ok, considering after what Luke told him over the network. He knew that Luke was hurting. Besides, he considered the replica to be his friend too. From here on out, he was going to be careful what he said to Luke, trying not to give away what had happened after Van's betrayal. It wasn't his business, but it puzzled him why as to Luke stilled called Van "Master". But he wouldn't push that issue.
Now, he wasn't the father figure type, this wasn't his area to comfort. Was he here for that? Perhaps. For who? Himself or Luke? He wouldn't know how to handle Luke if he started crying, it wasn't his best area or situation to be in, but he wouldn't leave the replica if he did start crying.
He held down a sigh that threatened to escape him. Perhaps he would tell Luke another time what he'd done, but not now.
"I had to confirm that this was you." That was true and he wasn't in the mood to be a smart ass at the moment anyway. He wasn't going to explain that even if Luke asked.
Luke did look like he was hurting. "You're a naughty boy, trying to hide that."
