Asuka would never be able to express in words just how much she appreciated Sakura being right there. It was possibly the only thing keeping her connected to herself, reminding herself that reality, the thing she detested most, was still there and she needed to keep it together. The pain was overwhelming, she was losing it slowly, but she was focusing so hard on the feel of Sakura’s arms, how the fabric of her clothing felt in her fists, how if she buried her head into her shoulder she wanted to cry just a little less… It was helping more then anything at that moment to just keep her grounded, even if she was currently as unstable as ever.
“Hate… he… abandoned… Never cared… No one cares… Thought… Maybe… Cloud.” His name came out in another anguished cry, another wave of sobs coming up from her as she put her face into Sakura’s shoulder once again, letting out pain filled cries of “Why?” over and over again. She wanted him to care, wanted to know how much, but she was so convinced he didn’t and that she had been fooled yet again.
In the midst of her sobs, she expressed one concern that she never would have said out loud in her normal state of mind; “Sakura… please… don’t leave… don’t ever leave… Need… Need someone… You… You care… Don’t… Don’t stop… I… Do you… Could you… Love…?”
