No matter what anyone told him about it going away, it was still a new and strange sensation to have all those eyes locked on him. Sure, Spider-Man got that kind of attention all of the time but Peter Parker was an entirely different story. When that much focus was on him it was because he was about to get a swirly or Flash Thompson was planning to pants him, not because he was sitting at a table enjoying a cup of coffee. The paranoia was justified in his eyes.
Heaving a sigh, Peter stared out the window at the people who were decent enough to pretend not to notice him while walking by the small cafe. It wasn't like he was the only hero to come out to the world, granted none of them made a huge deal of it either. Tony was funny like that, painting a target on Pete's back instead of his own. Picking up the cup, he drained the rest of the now cold brew and tossed the paper cup away. Stepping out into the warm sunlight, Parker set off at a casual pace, masterfully navigating the crowds with as much grace as a superhuman New Yorker could manage.
The looks still bothered him but not nearly as much as the mild tingling on the back of his neck. It wasn't anywhere close to an obvious threat but it wasn't just another former crook staring daggers at him. He'd have to keep his eyes open for this one. Today was going to be one of those crazy days, he could just feel it in his bones.
