Why: Ten confronts Keara about the failure of his spell

It had become plainly obvious, very quickly, that something had gone wrong with the spell. The rain clouds that should have only stayed the evening became thick, and snow started shortly after. Ten had shivered as he ran out to the back of the house, searching through the remains of the fire for any hint of what might have gone wrong. The herbs were right, the order and words had all been the same as he had done them a dozen times before. He even double checked the dagger, even though it had been used in magic long before he was even born. As he retraced each step, his anger only rose, until he was raging.

Now, a day later, he was sure of the cause of his failure. There was no other option, it had to be the girl. Ten stormed into her room, his eyes blazing with the rage he felt.

"What is it?! He insisted loudly. "What is it you're not telling me, that's twisted my magic?"

"There's power in you then," Ten said, his eyes taking on a new fire. It looked somewhat like arousal, and the new knowledge of what she was did indeed arouse him. His hand tightened in her hair, making her back bend just slightly.

"A different power. Enough of a difference to fuck the life out of that storm spell."

The displeasure was clear in his voice at that, but the possibilities in front of him were just as appealing as his supposed rage.

	There was a soft, low growl that sounded low in her throat as he tugged on her hair, making her bare her neck slightly to him. There was a swift flush of desire that ran through her at that, but there was also irritation. "If there's enough power ta cause it, then there should be enough ta stop it." Tennison stared at his slave with wide, surprised eyes.

"There it is," he growled, seeing the animal in her for the first time. "Can't believe I didn't see it before. I must have been blind."

It was like holding a wild thing by the scruff of it's neck, watching as it struggled against the grasp.

"More than enough to stop it, my little wildling. I just need to figure out how. You can trust that it will involve just as much blood as before, and perhaps far more tears. Consider it the price of not telling me everything up front."

There was a part of her that wanted to smirk when he looked so surprised at her growl. Instead she tugged at his hold a little, trying to see if she could get out of it easier.

"I think ye just want more tears ta punish me fer not knowin rather than just tha spell. There anything else ye need ta know rather than just findin out? So we dont have this problem next time?"

Ten only tightened his grip, as Keara struggled against it. She needed to learn that she belonged to him, and he would do with her whatever he damn well pleased, including letting her go when he was ready.

"Whether it's for a spell or my pleasure, I'll take your tears whenever the mood strikes me," he said calmly.

"Now, there is something we should do. DO you know how to read or write, wildling? Enough to write something for me, or do you need me to do it for you?"

	Ten let go so quickly, that it almost looked as though he had dropped Keara. He pulled back a step. "I'm going to get you a pen and paper, and you're going to write down anything that might be even the smallest bit important. 	Keara nearly yelped when he let go, but managed to right herself pretty fast. "Aye? Well tha sex one's pretty easy. There aint none." She rolled her eyes and moved to sit back, opening the window slightly as she did. It was getting way too hot in the room. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"A werefox and a virgin?" Ten asked, his voice lilting up at the end. He had no idea what he had done right, to walk out of an auction with a slave of such obvious magical value.

"God fucking bless your mouth, girl. You've saved me a small fortune."

It was only then that it started to sink in, just exactly what she had said. A virgin...

"So when you say none, what do you mean?" he asked. There were many different definitions of 'none', depending on who you asked.

	Keara snorted at that and rolled her eyes. At least he wasnt that mad anymore. It was actually kind of amusing. "Remember that tha next time I open it and ye dinna like what comes out." Ten's hand literally came up to cover his mouth at Keara's clarification. He was suddenly glad that he hadn't used the next step up in strength for the weather spell, one where he would have penetrated her with the hilt of the dagger. It would have ruined so much she could now be used for.

"Consider it a 'get out of jail free card'," he said. "For at least a few indiscretions."

Meanwhile, he would have to try not to let his mind swim with the possibilities of what he could use her for, and instead find a solution to their weather problem. It would end naturally, eventually, but he was fairly certain his neighbours wouldn't look kindly on three months or so of apocalypse-style winter.

"Yer lookin like a kid in a candy shop Tennison." She grinned at him. It was actually pretty funny just to see how excited he was about it.

"And I'll take that offer." She winked. "I know I'll say somethin sooner or later ta piss ye off. Though how are we going ta get tha snow ta end. As much as I like wearin me furs, I dinna think ye like freezin, and the full moon aint going ta be no fun locked away in here."

Ten felt like a kid in a candy store. There was so much he needed to do. Keara's blood, tears, and certain other things would have to be taken and stored, and that wasn't even starting to address the storm.

"I need to start working on that," he said, suddenly overtaken with the energy he would need.

"You make that list, and tell Els to bring in my supper to my study. I'm afraid you'll likely have to manage the moon in the basement."

He turned to walk from the room, stopping as a thought hit him.

"Though, if you're thinking of having a cry about it, let me know. I'll give you a vial."

"Alright. I'll work on tha list ta the best of my abilities." She really wasnt sure what was special, but she guessed she could write everything down.

The mention of him keeping her in the basement brought a scowl to her face. "I aint as wild as a wolf ye know." Mostly. It was better to say she wasnt a violent thing, but she wasnt much better than any wild fox.

"And are you just going to save up any tears I shed fer future use?" It was a bit of a better option than those fucking clamps. She still needed to find and hide those damn things.

Now that he knew exactly what she was, there were plenty of things he could gather from Keara, some of which would make even her blush. Others would make her scream, but those he wasn't quite as interested in, at least not this early. He wasn't a slave rights believer in the slightest, but he also knew that poor treatment could poison a slave, and no one did well living with poison under their roof.

"If I think of anything, I'll let you know," he said, with just a touch of sass.

"And if I do let you know, be sure to collect it. You wonna like me when I'm angry, girl."

	Keara grinned at his sass and nodded. "Aye aye. I'll be wary of ye being foul." While she hadnt seen his full anger yet, there were glimpses that she just didnt like. "Some peace and bloody quiet," Ten replied, making his way to the door.

"I'm going to have to figure out a way to fix this, before we're all snowed to death in the next ice age."

If he was lucky, he could come up with it fast, and no one would be the wiser. He was new to the area, and this wasn't exactly the first impression he wanted to make.

"Meanwhile, let's just keep this between the two of us."
