"I thought you liked them older," Emerson had to point out when Lucien complained about the lack of people his age. He shrugged again, taking another drink before continuing. Goddamn if the kid wasn't going to drive him to early gray hairs.
"Look, the point is, and you can take this from someone who's been that obnoxious drunk, most people don't actually like you more when you're drunk. Unless they're drunk too." He gave Lucien a pointed look. "Only people who pretend to are people who want to take advantage of the poor, drunk loser they can exploit for sex or money or whatever. Therefore, if you want company, the logic in this situation clearly dictates that you should not get hammered if you want to meet people who don't suck." He sighed again, rubbing his temples.
"But, you know, if you want to think on that, at least let me call a car for you or something. Walking home's a bit of a way, even if you're only tipsy."
