Emerson nodded, his heart going out to the guy, really. It was hard to live with the shadow of anything traumatic hanging over you. It felt like someone was watching you, knowing the whole time things that you didn't want them to know. He knew all too well that feeling. If something he could do might ease it for someone else, he'd be happy to help. It helped dissolve little pieces of his own shadow sometimes to help people with theirs.
"Don't worry about it. I'll give you a receipt for the reagents if you feel like you have to pay something, but I should have a lot of the natural components growing in the garden." He took another drink, fixing Jack with one of those knowing looks. "Yes, I garden."
