Summary: Just another day at Obscurus Books, until the storm hits and traps people inside.

Gareth looked around the bookshop with pride. Children were sitting enthralled by Marigold and her husband as they performed flashy magic tricks. Logan was hosting a small cooking class, teaching everyone from housewives to retired Unspeakables (though Gareth though it was highly unlikely that there were actually such a thing as retired Unspeakables) how to bake enchiladas. His Maddie was graciously signing copies of her latest best-seller Emerald Isle, and open mike poetry night would start in a half hour, followed by a rousing karaoke contest. All in all, Thursday was shaping up to be a wonderful, and profitable, night for Obscurus Books.

She had a rare day off - something about the weather possibly getting bad later in the day, no that she believed it. People were always worried about the weather getting bad, but it never did. Though rather than voice that little doubt, Lavender decided to enjoy the day off.

It had been a while since she'd gotten any new books, and she was running rather low on new reading material. So a trip to the book shop was in order. She wrapped a scarf around her neck and pulled on a coat before heading out - it was a bit cold today, but that wasn't unusual this time of year.

Obscurus was a bit busy today, probably several people had the day off due to the highly unlikely bad weather that was supposed to be coming later that day. She ducked her head letting her hair fall down around her face while she started browsing the book shelves.

Dean walked into Obscurus Books and felt immediately at home, as he always did. His paint splattered jeans and ripped t-shirt weren't out of place here, and he hung his heavy peacoat on the rack provided and headed directly to the cafe. He needed coffee and art books, in that order. He was a regular, so Logan asked after his latest paintings and Marigold came over to give him a grandmotherly hug, and then shooed him into the dark corner that housed the art books--big volumes of Picasso, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, glossy pages filled with color, shapes and inspiration.

He'd picked out several books to page through while drinking his coffee when he saw Lavender walk in, scarf wrapped around her neck. Grinning he set aside the books and decided that human inspiration was more in line with his newest series of paintings. "Darling, you are more gorgeous every time I see you," he whispered into her ear as he came up behind her. "When are you going to run away with me to Greece, and let me paint you under the sun with the ocean at our backs?"

Coat off and laid over her arm, Lavender might have been on her way to the romance section of the book shop when Dean caught her, not that she would have told him that. She tensed for half a second before she smiled smiled when she recognized his familiar voice behind her, turning slowly to look up at him.

"I bet you say that to all the girls," She teased. "Always wanted to go to Greece though, you keep up with those compliments and one day I might take you up on it." She told him smiling.

Seamus had been over in the children's section, looking for books for Caitlin, who'd gone back to Ireland the weekend before. He looked up, however, when he heard two very familiar voices, smiling when he saw his best mate and girlfriend.

He headed over to them, clapping a hand on Dean's shoulder, and pulled him away from Lavender. "Oi, mate, if anyone's taking her to Greece, it's me."

He let go of Dean's shoulder and wrapped his arms around Lavender's body, resting his chin against the top of her head as he looked over at Dean. "And how are you today, me ickle Deanie Beanie?"

Dean smirked and shook his head sadly. "You think what you want to think Seamus my mate, but we both know just where Lavender's heart lies," he teased, not missing the way Seamus rested his head on top of Lavender's hair. It was almost sickeningly sweet, and Dean had the sudden urge to sketch them together.

Never one to ignore his baser urges, he quickly fished out his sketchpad and a small piece of charcoal and went to work, even as he kept up conversation with his two friends. "I'm cold, my feisty Leprechaun friend, and without reading material. Was just my luck to pick up a gorgeous woman in a bookshop only to realize she's hopelessly in love with my best mate." He sighed as if heavily grieved and glanced up at the couple before looking back down at the sketch pad. "Are you sure you won't change your mind Lav? I'm sure I'm a much better boyfriend than Shameless here."

Lavender smiled brightly when Seamus joined them wrapping his arms around her, even if he did decide to use her as a head rest - such was the problem of having a giant for a boyfriend, she'd never admit that she sort of liked it. She leaned her head back against Seamus' chest just enough that she could stick her tongue out at him and he'd see it.

"You're not drawing us, are you?" She asked when Dean suddenly pulled out his sketchpad. "You're drawing someone behind us right?" Despite having ended up as the subject for one of Dean's drawings more than once, Lavender never was very eager to play his muse.

"I don't know, Dean - would you ever use me for a headrest like other people we know?" She asked teasing. "Because I might be tempted to give you a chance to show me your better boyfriend skills if you didn't." She said poking Seamus' side as she finished.

Seamus watched Dean as he started sketching, and he knew without even asking that he and Lavender were the subjects. He'd known Dean for a long time, and for some reason he'd always liked to randomly draw him or Lavender.

According to Dean, he liked drawing Seamus because he had a strong face or great hands or something like that, but Seamus just figured it was because his best mate thought he was hot. But not really.

When Lavender joked with Dean even more, asking him if he'd use her as a headrest, Seamus gasped and squeezed her harder against him. "You like it. Don't act like you don't." He tilted her head towards his and gave her a quick kiss, smirking at the look that passed over Dean's face at the action.

He put his hand back against Lavender's belly and resumed his position on the top of her head, smiling as he caught sight of Harry walking towards them.

"Potty," he said with a grin. "What's up?"

Harry and Ron had split up for a little bit to look around the shop. Neville had wandered away too. Seeing Seamus and Lavender over in an area Harry headed over seeing Dean there as well when he came closer.

Hearing Lavender's comment about being drawn Harry peered at the sketch pad as he stood next to Dean. "Yep he is. Looks pretty good too." Harry told her before sticking his tongue out at Seamus. "Shush Seamoose." Harry told him. "Lavender really why do you put up with him? Let me find you a nicer bloke." Harry told her as he continued to watch Dean sketch.

Dean ignored the complaint from Lavender as he'd heard it a million times in the past and it had never stopped him from sketching her before. She didn't know it, but she even featured in a few of the paintings that had come out of his nightmares. Seamus was there too, and all of his friends, but he'd never gone into detail about those paintings. Even Seamus had only seen a couple. Most of them were kept covered in his vault at Gringott's, too raw even now to look at for too long, or put in one of his few and far between gallery shows.

He finished off the quick sketch, and then tore it from the pad, waving it in the air grandiosely. "My newest masterpiece ladies and gentleman. I believe I'll call it The Beauty and the Prat," he said, sticking his tongue out at Seamus. "Hi Harry, and if you want to find Lavender a nicer bloke, start with me. I have it on high authority I'm a very nice bloke."

He held out the sketch, knowing that sooner or later Seamus or Lavender was going to be overcome with curiosity and snatch it from him, and it was better to offer it up than risk it getting torn.

Seamus raised an eyebrow at the title of Dean's "newest masterpiece," and grabbed it from him when he held it out. "Don't be mean, Dean. You're not supposed to tell Lavender to her face that she's a prat." He batted his eyelashes at him. "But thanks for calling me a beauty."

He rolled his eyes when Harry started in on him too, pouting slightly when he seemed to think that Dean being Lavender's knew boyfriend would be a good idea, as well.

He held onto her and stuck his tongue out at both his mates. "Mine."

He finally looked down at the sketch in his hand, and he smiled at how realistically his friend could draw in just ten minutes. He did notice, however that his small mole somehow appeared to be rather larger in the sketch. "Oi, what's this growth you got on me face?"

Dean would never admit it, not even to Seamus or his mother, but he always felt a small piece of himself die when he'd finished a piece of art, even something as simple as a sketch. It was as if the art took up residence in his heart and when it was done and gone left a hole behind to be filled by the next painting or sketch or once in awhile a sculpture. The hole was also filled when the subject of the art liked what he'd created, and that was something he wouldn't tell anyone either. It sounded a little too pansy even for someone who liked to get shagged by men once in awhile.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts--something that happened to him a lot when he got lost in thoughts of his art--and just raised an eyebrow at Seamus' mine comment. "I'll let Lavender deal with your over possessiveness," he teased, and didn't bother to hide his grin at Seamus' protests over the growth. "What?" he asked innocently. "I don't notice anything differently. Do you Lav?" He winked at Harry so he wouldn't feel left out, and waited to see what Lavender would come up with.

Lavender frowned and snatched the drawing from Seamus, despite her dislike of being one of Dean's subjects, even she had to admit the drawing was nice - the way Seamus held her close and the way she was sort of tucked against him. "He was talking about me, you prat." Lavender protested when Seamus suggested that he was the Beauty.

She was flooded with a warm happy feeling when Seamus held her closer and made sure they all knew she was his.

Grinning when Dean teased Seamus about the growth on his face, Lavender glanced at the sketch again and up at Seamus. "Hmm... no nothing looks amiss to me, it's a very good likeness of him, Dean."

"Damn right you're the beauty, Lav," Dean agreed, taking the sketch back and tucking it inside his book. He was always pleased when people liked their likenesses, even if he wasn't strictly a portrait artist. The only time he really did them was when he was sketching.

"You can have that back after I've cleaned it up and matted it," he promised. His agent would have a fit. Leon hated when Dean gave away anything he did, even spur of the moment sketches. Dean always told him to shove it, and he'd give his family and friends whatever the fuck he wanted and Leon would have to live with it.

"So, Potter, Shameless tells me you've shacked up with Weasley," Dean said, turning to include Harry in their conversation again. He had to admit that the thought of Ron and Harry shagging presented pretty pictures in his head, reds and greens and god-awful orange mixing together in a way that should represent chaos but actually danced around in harmony. He took a mental picture and shoved the thought aside for another time.

"What's that like?" He was honestly interested. He couldn't imagine ever shagging Seamus, the other man was too much like a brother, but the fact that Harry and Ron had gotten past the best mates slash brothers aspect of their relationship enough to shag was very interesting.

Harry chuckled at his friends antics when Dean finished the sketch. Looking at it he added, "Seamus you know Lavender is the Beauty and you're the prat." He winked at Dean before adding, "I dunno I think it looks smaller in the sketch to be honest."

Grinning when Dean brought up Ron Harry nodded. "Brillant. Apparently almost everyone saw it but us." He chuckled, "We even have a puppy and I think Neville finds us almost sickeningly together but he's just as bad with Charlie so he has no room to complain."

Neville was just finishing the remains of one of sandwichs he'd gotten when he joined the group, and almost choked on it as he heard Harry's comment.

"Pardon me? Who does Tequila shots? In Public? Not Charlie and me."

And as no one knew he'd even tasted Tequila, Neville figured he was safe from any comebacks.

"Dean, it's great to see you mate. Finally. You too, Shay. But I still don't know how you got Lavender to go out with you, much less stick with you."

"Anyone want the second sandwich? I can't eat it."

Ron arrived among the group of ex-Gryffindors just in time to steal Neville's second sandwich. '

"'Fanks Nev," he mumbled around his first bite. Once he'd swallowed he grinned. "This is good. We should come here more often if the food is always this good."

He realized he'd been rude so far, and as he wrapped his arm around Harry much in the same way Seamus was standing with Lavender he grinned. "'Lo Shamless, Deanie Beanie, Lav," he said, nodding to them all in turn. "It's a regular reunion tonight."

Lavender shook her head when Ron stole Neville's second sandwich before anyone else had an opportunity to have it - though from what she remembered about Ron he was very fond of food. It was a little strange to see him so close with Harry now, after their shared past - but everyone changes, she reminded herself.

"Ron." She said giving him a small smile, glad Seamus was still holding her close now that their little group had suddenly gotten so large.

"Had the day off and came round to get a new book or two, when I ran into these two." She said affectionately indicating Seamus and Dean. "Not sure I would have come if I'd known there was going to be a house reunion, though." She teased, mostly - she still wasn't entirely happy with crowds even crowds of old friends.

Seamus had pouted for a few moments after his friends made fun of him, but he remained silent, watching everyone and amused by what they were saying. He raised an eyebrow at Dean when he asked Harry about his and Ron's relationship; he had a feeling he knew the line of direction his thought processes were going.

As the group steadily got bigger, Seamus felt Lavender tense up slightly against him. He brushed his thumb against her stomach, hoping she'd realize it was his way of putting her at ease without actually saying anything. He also bent his head down slightly and kissed the top of her head.

He looked over at Ron, giving him a fake scowl.

"You're not allowed to call him Deanie Beanie. Only I can," he told Ron playfully, even though there was a bit of a protective edge in his voice. He wasn't really all that serious, except that he kind of was.

Dean nodded emphatically in agreement with Seamus. "That's right Ron, only Shameless calls me Deanie Beanie and only I get to call him Leprechaun. It's our thing," he said, grinning widely. For some reason all of the Gryffindors in their year had an unspoken agreement that taking the piss out of Ron Weasley was an almost holy past time. It was definitely a very fun one, Dean thought.

He grinned at Neville and reached out to shove him on the shoulder, more gently than he would have Seamus or Ron because Dean had a Thing about people smaller than him, in that they were to be protected. His sisters had beat him up more than once for this very Thing, but it couldn't be changed at this late age.

"So, Longbottom, you've been back, what? A month now and haven't owled me? I'm hurt right down to my very soul," he said, pouting at Neville. "And I had to hear from Shameless about you and Charlie, just like I had to hear from him about Harry and Ron. One would think I'm not in the gossip loop anymore." He sniffled as if this made him very sad.

Neville mused at how things had changed. Once upon a time he would have felt a small thrill go through him at Dean touching him, but since Charlie, or maybe even before, that had gone away.

But he was still one of his best mates which meant they could give each other a hard time, stictly in the name of fun of course.

Making puppy dog eyes, and Neville knew he was better at that then Ron could ever hope to be, he protested: "Oi. Just gang up me everyone, even though you know I have a bad memory. Are you sure you haven't been talking to Gran." Snickering, he smiled, "uh huh, we all know that all you have to do to be in the gossip loop is know Seamus or Harry, so it's not like you've ever been out of it.

But, yes, he had been remiss, and he should make up for it. "Tell you what, to get back in your good graces you can come over for dinner sometime. I make pretty good Italian food."

Dean sighed at Neville's pitiful expression. He'd always been a soft touch for puppy dog eyes, and Neville's were right up there with his sisters'. No one, of course, could touch Seamus when it came to puppy dog expressions, except maybe Caitlin. Dean shuddered to think what she was going to be like when she grew up. He was already wondering if an investment in chastity belts would be a smart move.

"Well, to be fair, there was a week or two there that I don't even remember eating, let alone checking the owl post. New painting," he explained. "And I love Italian food. That sounds like a plan Longbottom." He patted Nev on the shoulder companionably and then realized that Seamus had been quiet far too long, which was never a good thing.

"Oi arse breath," he called out, knowing that Seamus would know that he meant him. "Stop mauling your poor girlfriend and participate in conversation." He glanced over at Ron and Harry and smirked. "And that goes double for you two wankers. Honestly."

Seamus stuck his tongue out at Dean. "I don't have arse breath. Me breath is nice and minty." He blew into Dean's face to illustrate his point. "See? Not arsey. Minty. Huh, Lav?" he asked with a smile, leaning down to kiss her again.

"I'm not mauling her. I was letting her smell me minty breath."

He ignored the way Ron was currently nuzzling Harry's ear, placing soft kisses to it every now and then. It was still weird to see how they'd gone from practically brothers to lovers. Incestuous, almost.

He could never imagine kissing Dean. Aside from the fact that that would make him gay, it would be about as appealing as kissing his brother if he had one.

Looking back down at Lavender, he gave her a smile and bent down to whisper in her ear so that only she could hear him. He had a feeling he would get smacked for what he was about to say, but he didn't really care. He couldn't resist.

"I bet Harry and Ron are turning you on right now, aren't they?" he whispered, tickling her belly playfully.

When Dean called Seamus out for pawing at her, Lavender turned quickly, apparently having been caught snogging Seamus - though why they needed to stop she didn't really know, not when she enjoyed kissing him so much, and they weren't being indecent after all.

"You wouldn't be getting anywhere near me if you had arsey breath." Lavender said shaking her head, but smiling fondly when Seamus kissed her again.

Truthfully she hadn't been paying a whole lot of attention to Harry and Ron, not until Seamus pointed them out to her, and she most certainly did smack his arm and batted his hands away from her stomach for his little comment, but Lavender felt herself going red and doing her best not to look at Harry or Ron - apparently Seamus wasn't going to let her forget that little bit of information he'd learned during the days she'd been a boy.

In an attempt to distract herself Lavender and remove any attention that might have been drawn to her, by the way she turned red so quickly, she smiled at Neville. "So what about me? Seems like you've gotten caught up with everyone else here, or do I not count because I didn't get to share a room with you boys back at school?" She asked him pouting.

Neville smiled. "Nope just didn't want to be nosy. And can already see you've got better taste than Harry here." he teased. Okay, he'd probably get hexed for that, but worth it.

"Not as good as me, but close."

"So what do you want to know? I'm an open book."

Neville smiled. "And unlike some of my dormmates you can trust me to not ask a lady any embarrassing questions."

"Ask away."
