RP: Obscurus Books Presents
Date: 26 March 2003 (through early Thursday morning likely)
Characters: Everyone who'd like to come, plus various NPCs! Children Welcome! Add your tags!
Location: Obscurus Books & Cafe
Private/Public: Public as public can be!
Warnings: PG to start, if things get kinky, please use the subject line of the first comment to rate appropriately!
Summary: Just another day at Obscurus Books, until the storm hits and traps people inside.

Gareth looked around the bookshop with pride. Children were sitting enthralled by Marigold and her husband as they performed flashy magic tricks. Logan was hosting a small cooking class, teaching everyone from housewives to retired Unspeakables (though Gareth though it was highly unlikely that there were actually such a thing as retired Unspeakables) how to bake enchiladas. His Maddie was graciously signing copies of her latest best-seller Emerald Isle, and open mike poetry night would start in a half hour, followed by a rousing karaoke contest. All in all, Thursday was shaping up to be a wonderful, and profitable, night for Obscurus Books.

"Right. Tea. I'll bring milk and sugar back too," he said, though mostly to himself as he nodded absently when Roger showed him where he'd be after. He made his way to the cafe and ordered the tea and one of the vanilla caramel mochas for himself. With whipped cream of course, and he very carefully ignored Logan's questions about Roger, and only blushed a little when the older man growled in his psuedo-older brother sort of way to be careful as he'd heard rumors about Quidditch players.

After reminding Logan that there were rumors about cafe chefs as well, Terry gathered up the tea and his mocha, and smiled when he noticed that despite his warnings Logan had loaded the tray with fresh eclairs from Stephen's bakery, as well as a healthy selection of fruit--Logan's way of telling Terry he needed to eat better probably--he headed back to Roger, careful not to spill anything on anyone on the way.

His blush deepened as he noticed how small the love seat was, and that they'd be almost pressed together, and carefully placed the tray on the low table that sat in front of the small sofa. "I brought milk and sugar as well, and fruit and eclairs. The eclairs are fresh from my mate Stephen's bakery," he said as he sat beside Roger and busied himself fussing with the tray. "How do you like your tea?"

"I've got it from here," he replied, leaning forward to make his own tea. It was usually better that way, than to rely on someone else to listen to his directions properly. It always tasted better when he added things himself. The smell of the eclairs though... for Merlin's sake, why did temptation have to hover around him every single day? With a reluctant look, his fingers veered away from the eclairs and he picked up a piece of fruit instead.

Much healthier. Much better for him. Much less fattening, so that he'd still get laid.

"It's cruelty to Quidditch players, I'd say, to bring them such tempting -- and fattening -- food," he informed Terry, with a rather over dramatic sigh.

Terry nodded and leaned back with his own drink, lapping delicately at the mound of whipped cream. He hid a smile when he saw how conflicted Roger was over the eclairs, and just smiled impishly as he reached out and poked Roger's stomach daringly and them winced comically. Sugar had always made him more outgoing.

"I'm not sure you have much to worry about," he teased, sucking his finger into his mouth as if to soothe it and completely oblivious to how else that action might seem. "I nearly just broke my finger. I think you can risk just one eclair."

As if to illustrate that comment, he set aside his mocha for the moment and picked up said dessert, biting off half of it and moaning as the sweet cream oozed out on his tongue. He held the rest of the treat out to Roger. "It doesn't count if it's shared, right? At least, that's what my mother always said after she'd stolen the rest of my father's desserts."

"I'd say you're a mean bloke, but I'm not sure you're aware of what you've done," Roger commented, with a slightly raised eyebrow, before taking the other half of the eclair and popping it into his mouth. Mmm, okay, yeah, he could probably handle just the one. Roger didn't think he had much to worry about, at the moment, but that was really the point. He didn't ever WANT there to be something to worry about. When you started slacking off due to being in the right shape... that was when you started to gain.

"That might just have been worth it."

Terry gave Roger a confused look, and mentally shrugged. He had no idea what Roger was talking about, but he wasn't going to broadcast his ignorance by asking. "See, I told you so," he said, only slightly smug over the fact that Roger had enjoyed the eclair. "Now I'll leave you to your boring fruit and eat this last one myself." He gave Roger a smug grin and made quick work of the second eclair, licking his finger free of cream when he was done.

"Right, so, I'm sorry again about standing you up. I really didn't mean for that to happen, especially when you're the first decent bloke I've been out with in far too long, so I really am glad you decided to come tonight," he said, leaning sideways against the arm of the love seat, legs criss-crossed so he could see Roger better without either of them craning their necks. "How have you been? Busy with Quidditch I imagine. Didn't you just win a match recently?" He was certain he'd read that in the paper, but he could have been wrong and hoped Roger wouldn't be insulted if he had been.

"We did, actually," he replied with a grin, a bit pleased that Terry had apparently paid attention to his team in the papers at least. It was one of those things that was always pleasing to hear about, no matter who it was who'd noticed his team excelling. Of course, when he lost a match, he rather hated hearing the crap from people who really were just fans and...

But that was a rant for another day, with a different person likely. "Quidditch is always busy, since we're training almost non-stop." Not that he minded, really, since the majority of the time it was quite enjoyable. "And you've... been busy with sickness, I guess." He still couldn't quite believe that Terry had stood him up. It was surprising, to Roger, who didn't really have that sort of thing happen too often. People didn't usually agree to dates with him and then ditch out at the last second.

"That's excellent," Terry said returning the grin. He could tell that Roger was pleased he'd noticed, and made a mental reminder to keep up with the scores. It was a simple thing to do, and it would make Roger happy which was a good thing. "When's your next match?" He leaned forward a little and his tone would let Roger know that he was really interested in hearing more about Quidditch.

Terry nodded and made a small face at the reminder of being sick. "Until you've had kids you never realize just how disgusting it is to clean up after sick people," Terry said with a grimace. "But, I'm not busy now, and you're not busy, so that's nice, right?" He picked up his mocha and sipped at the hot beverage, licking away the last of the whipped cream to get to the caramel chocolatey coffee goodness that was hiding underneath. He may have moaned a little, but hopefully Roger wouldn't tease him.

"In a about a week or so," he replied, not quite remembering the exact date. Mostly because he'd been distracted at the last team meeting when they'd discussed it, but really, he thought he ought to owl and verify the date. That way, his coach wouldn't want to slaughter him anytime in the near future.

"It is," he replied, a smirk appearing when he noticed that Terry was moaning over food again. Well, over drink, but that was basically the same thing. Settling his arm along the back of the couch, he leaned in a bit to add, "you're starting to make me regret coming here, you know. I'm a little sorry that I can't pin you down to the couch for a snog here." He leaned back again, however, after completing his comment and shrugged.

"But yeah, the team's doing well this season. Might have something to do with the non-stop practices."

The Prophet listed all upcoming games, Terry remembered, so he'd take a look and see when Roger was playing next. That way he could send either a congratulatory owl, or offer a sympathy snog. Well, a congratulatory snog wouldn't be out of place either, he amended.

His eyes flew wide and he felt his face heat up instantly in a blush at Roger's next comment. He blinked once or twice, and then felt his lips quirk up in a pleased grin. "Well, that could be arranged for later," he said softly, reaching out and tracing his fingers over Roger's arm lightly. He couldn't deny that the thought of being pinned down and snogged was a very pleasing one. "When there's not so many people around."

He leaned back and was glad when Roger turned the conversation back to Quidditch. It allowed him a few moments to get his breathing back under control, and Quidditch was easy. "Well, all the hard work shows, doesn't it? When you win?"

"It does," he replied, with a grin. "I've no problem with working on plays into the night if it results in a win." None at all. Roger was in love with the game, couldn't usually handle the thought of not playing for long periods of time. The year or so between school and his first time on a team for professional Quidditch? It had nearly killed him, spending that much time without playing in a properly competitive way.

Snatching another piece of fruit, he popped it into his mouth. Mmm. Considering he'd failed to eat dinner so far, it was definitely nice to consume something of tasty deliciousness. Hopefully, he'd be able to snack on things til he was full.
