[15 Aug 2012|01:40am]
It is now August, of 1997, and the Ministry has had a complete overhaul; Harry Potter is the main suspects in the murder of Albus Dumbledore, Minister Scrimgeour has resigned his post, and with a new Minister in charge the Ministry smoothly and silently transitions into a new era. Yet, as the Trio disappear on the search for the Horcruxes, the world does not stand still. Instead, things are getting progressively worse as Hogwarts faces a new Headmaster, Professors and the oppression of a Ministry intent on putting across their agenda. For those outside the walls, things aren't much better with the introduction of the Muggleborn Registration Committee, and the rapid criminalization of Muggleborns as the Ministry intends to bring about the golden age of wizard kind.

Those in the middle remain unaffected, but for how long? The time to start choosing sides is now, or all may be lost forever...

Rebellis is a 7th year canon Harry Potter RPG, set at both Hogwarts and the Wizarding Britain. Join us as we explore the stories that the book omitted.

Beacon Hills: AU "Season 3" Teen Wolf RPG [15 Aug 2012|08:07am]

Beacon Hills RPG will pick up immediately after the season 2 finale. We will work on an episodic basis, for 13 "episodes". Each episode will take place over 1-2 weeks in game, and will vary from 2 to 4 weeks RL time. The game will run with an overarching plot (based around a season "bad guy") and smaller, player driven plots to keep character interaction and development up.

Episode One begins August 17th and will run for approximately two weeks and cover about a week in game. It will focus on the two packs bonding (whether that means cross-pack remains to be determined), working out a truce of sorts between the Wolves and the Hunters, and the introduction of the first "Baddie" (not the Alpha Pack just yet, though that will be incorporated as we go on). Episode One's "Baddie" is a Succubus. More information can be found in the game calendar.

MOST WANTED: Boyd, the adults (especially Chris Argent, Melissa McCall and Sheriff Stilinski). There are 4 OC spots left, but 3 are reserved for specific storylines. Please check the Cast/Holds page for details.

One year ago a virus called the TR-3A broke out over the world. It hit the elderly and the children especially hard and soon enough the hospitals began to overflow. They were dying one after another faster than medical staffs were able to keep up with. And before anyone knew it, they were rising from their deathbeds and biting giant hunks of flesh out the people around them, spreading the virus around. If a person didn't bleed out, a bite would take 24 hours to fully infect its host and turn them into another zombie.

A town just outside of Seattle called Everett was one of the last holdouts when all hope seemed lost. An evac helicopter run by the US military was assigned to take the last survivors to a presumed safe zone in Canada. Some of the people didn't make it to Everett on time and now they're stuck in the city trying to forge a life out of an apocalypse.

The city has split into two factions. The first is a maximum security prison lead by Faith Lehane and a group of council members. The prison is heavily guarded by a variety of species and many people live safely within its walls. Another faction of survivors banned together in a group of housing projects. They worry less about their safety and more about taking over Everett and turning it into their own apocalyptic playground. These survivors aren't trying to presume their humanity, they're trying to bury it and they'll do anything to take down the heroes living behind the prison walls and farm the humans for their own personal needs.

There is finally a third faction of humanity left. Those few brave souls who live out in the wilderness among the zombies that roam in roves through Northern Washington. They are wild cards each and every one of them but choose to live apart from society for a good reason and are usually therefore feared by the two colonies living in the prison full of heroes and the projects full of villains.

Another group of rogue humans called the Freedom Fighters roam high in the mountains of northern Washington. These heroes remain legends spoken of by the rare individual who meets one of them or hears a radio transmission by them. These nerds of the round table are keeping one network open so that all survivors may communicate across it using their smartphones, tablets and computers. It is the only part of the internet still accessible and only to those lucky enough to have generator power still powering their devices. Survivors can communicate any time they like at [info]zombiesnet.

Most Wanted: Any and all canon characters.

Magical Glee [15 Aug 2012|02:48pm]

Have you ever wondered what your favorite Glee character would be like if they lived in the World of Harry Potter? Well, [info]magicalglee is your chance to find out. However, unlike other Harry Potter/Glee crossover games, we've taken the time to develop what the US Magical world would be like and how that would affect the Glee characters. What this means is, basically, Kurt Hummel is not the Boy Who Lived, Rachel Berry is no Hermione Granger and Sue Sylvester is not Voldemort. They are the Kurt Hummel, Sue Sylvester and Rachel Berry that you know and love from Glee, just with added magic! So come on by, take a look around the game, and then reimagine your chosen Glee character in this Magical setting.

[info]magicalglee is a primarily social game, looking for writers interested in character development and interaction. There will be gamewide plots thrown in from time to time (such as body swaps, love potions, maybe even a Dark Wizard or two and, most excitingly, a brand-new Wizarding Broadway Show based on the lives of the Hogwarts Founders!) that will be developed with player input and suggestions. The game takes place in 2018, putting most of the Glee characters at 22-25 years old. We will be canon through Season 3, but there is a lot of wiggle room with characterization since no one expects 24 year old Quinn Fabray to be the exact same as her 17 year old counterpart.

The game is in what we'll call Beta Test Mode, so we're also looking for players who would like to have input on shaping the game and the world it takes place in. As such, we are going to limit the initial involvement to 30 characters (with a cap of 10 original characters), with option for game growth down the line. Official game start was May 15th, but we promise that we're an easy game to slide into.

Most Wanted: Blaine, Mike, Mercedes, Tina, Artie, Quinn, Brittany, Sugar & Lauren

Character Types: Quidditch players, Aurors, reporters, actors/dancers/etc., & traditionalist Purebloods (for ~drama~) These could be filled by Canon or OC characters.

*New Pan-Fandom Game* [15 Aug 2012|09:55pm]

Sometimes the world you create on the page seems more friendly and alive than the world you actually live in.

Since the dawn of time, storytellers have enchanted audiences with their words. But there is an even rarer gift. There are those who, by reading out loud, can bring characters to life. Out of books and into our world. Most of these people prefer to keep their skills a secret but some do not even know this gift is theirs, until it is too late.

You know how your story begins, do you know how it ends?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever invested weeks, months, or perhaps years into character development only for a game to suddenly lose interest? For things to go awry and you choose to part ways? Are you sitting in a game that you've lost interest in simply because you don't wish to lose all that character development?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then Spinning Compass is for you!
We at Spinning Compass allow character development from any game. From Insane Journal? Approved! From Live Journal? Approved! From Dreamwidth? Approved! It doesn't matter what journal format they come from, your character will be approved!
Character approval pending application acceptability.
Books are adventure! They contain murder and mayhem and passion. They love anyone who opens them.
