Sorceress Ultimecia’s reign of terror is over, and though SeeD has fulfilled its purpose, Garden’s doors remain open to children to face the inevitable foes that dare to replace her. Slowly but surely, it feels that the world is reverting back into its old rhythm and forgetting the wounds of yesteryear. Organisations continue to provide Balamb Garden with a steady line of clientele, utilising their teams of elite mercenaries by pulling them across-continent as personal soldiers. Other cadets hang back within the academy, waiting their turn as they focus on schoolwork, training… and just a little more than before, having social lives. Life may not be all about fighting and war from here on, and the dangerous electricity in the air, lingering from the battles just months ago, does nothing to ruin the palpable feeling of relief and the promise for new beginnings. But the calms after storms are fickle things. Who knows how long this one will last? It’s a new age -- not perfect, but better. For now. liberatifatali; the Children of Fate, is a game set in the world of Final Fantasy VIII; a world overrun with political corruption, magic and young heroes. It focuses on the intertwined relationships of its characters, canon and original, dark and light, and strives to create the atmosphere that players of the game -- and players simply drawn to the theme of SeeD’s military boarding school -- will be able to immerse themselves in. Detailed writers are to be found herein, as well as canon personalities and an uncertain future that anyone can influence. Balamb Garden students are playable between the ages 15-19. Do they die, forsaken, alone? Or do they remain, still wandering the world, immortal, surviving off what little belief they can gather? Forgotten Gods follows the lives of these old deities, brought to America long ago by explorers or immigrants from their homelands and eventually abandoned or lost from memory. As their worshippers moved on to new religions, the gods' powers waned - for a god, at its most pure essence, is no more than an idea, and an idea is worthless if there is nobody to believe in it. Some have passed, forgotten, from the world, while others have fallen into madness. Some have simply tried to adapt, to make a life for themselves in this place without gods, getting by on what little scraps of worship and belief they can garner. Others are more radical, attempting to regain the power that was once theirs, to revive their followings. And then there are the New Gods. Gods of cars and computers, television and radio, cities and highways, all those things that modern Americans put their faith in. They are young, at the height of their power. These newcomers are regarded dismissively by some of the older gods, who have seen so many new deities rise and fall in their time; jealously by others, who wish to reclaim the power for their own; and by all with a deep wariness. The incident with Xavier and the replica of a machine known as Cerebro, were immediately blamed as being a source of contention across the world. Assuming that it was a so-called act of mutant violence, the President of the United States began trying to pass the Mutant Registration Act (MRA), a system that would require a ` mark ` on many public files and outcast mutants in society. It would not pass through Congress. Senator Kelly, one of the major members of Congress was a stout defender of mutant rights. He also knew that Professor Xavier‘s School was indeed a haven for young, scared boys and girls to go and learn about these strange new abilities. He was the only true mediator for mutants and humans alike. But, the President was not impressed, and called in a favor by the Brotherhood of Evil. The Brotherhood accepted, and upon the next election in November, Senator Kelly was brutally assassinated. The death of the Senator caused not only anger among mutants but also humans as well. With looming anti-mutant rallies, the MRA was brought up to Congress once more and was quickly passed. Soon, 25% of the mutant population unemployed within three weeks, the percentage soon doubled as jobs became extinct to the mutant population, the humans had deemed them too dangerous.
