L trusted her now. He knew it was wrong and against his own rules but he didn’t see any problem accepting her offer. She had plenty of opportunity to do something to him today. “Yes. Some tea and sugar would be very nice if you wish to provide it.” He sat down on the bench with her. It felt wonderful just to be near her again but L couldn’t figure out why she was frowning now. Maybe her leg was hurting her? She had just been on it a lot without her cane.
His brows knit with worry now, concerned that she might be hurting because of him. Maybe practicing in this manner had been too hard on her? “Are you in any pain?” he asked looking down at her leg, his breath still a little heavy from all the activity of earlier.
His eyes then wandered from there, and so did his mind. Finally he was slowly coming to the realization that he wanted to sleep with her. And it wasn’t the only realization that settled into place; he found that he didn’t just want her for a one time fling. He wanted her to be a permanent part of his life… for however long his life was here.
This snapped L attention back to reality rather harshly. There was no reason for him to be thinking about this as it would not happen. It couldn’t! This was probably just one of those days, and even if it wasn’t and these feelings he had for her were real, the possibility was out of the question for him. He could not get attached, and he could not love anyone. It would be dangerous for both of them. She could become a liability.
He scratched the back of his neck in discomfort and directed his attention back at Rachel’s face. Although he couldn’t be entirely sure right now, if this was one of those days then he may not be alone in experiencing these feelings. After all, Rachel seemed a lot cheerier today that the other occasions he had seen her. But until he knew the reason or saw some clear signs from her, L could not reach any conclusions.
Part of him also didn’t want to find out that their feelings were mutual.
He turned his attention back to their practice earlier hoping to ignore the whole matter. “I don’t normally complement others, but I have to say that you did much better than I had initially expected of you. I’m truly impressed!” He said smiling a little.
She deserved congratulations. No—L thought she deserved more then that! Doing what she did without injuring him at all was an amazing feat. He had been worried that he’d get hurt during this.
“I am more at ease now.” He said, shifting his position on the bench and wrapping his arms around her. He was intending to give her a short, quick hug much like the one he had been planning on giving Naomi before she had mistook it for an attack. He didn’t think he would find much trouble in the action. After all, it was simply a hug, right?
