Who: Rude and Elanna
What: Killing and cooking some snakes
When: Zoo escape day
Where: Asgard's kitchen
Rating: PG-13?
Warnings: ...the killing and cooking of random snakes?

As Elanna walked to the kitchen, she wondered what, exactly, she had just agreed to. Yes, she was hungry, and yes, there shouldn't be snakes in Asgard's kitchen, but were they going to kill them all? How many were there, anyway?

She didn't really know the guy that had asked her to help, either. Right now, she couldn't even remember if she'd heard his name. Really, this whole scenario made her kind of nervous.

But... she was hungry. And it sounded like he was going to kill them, anyway. And at least they'd be used for food...

"I'm here," she announced, so meekly that her voice was barely audible, when she got to the kitchen door.

Rude glanced at her with a nod, he'd ditched his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. "I haven't seen any poisonous ones yet." He said, calm as ever as he grabbed one of the snakes off of a rack hanging from the ceiling and dropped it in to a white bucket at his feet.

She paused at the door, simply staring at the wide variety of snakes inhabiting the room. She wondered how he could be sure whether any of them were poisonous, but she would trust him on that. He obviously knew better than she did.

"There are so many of them..."

"Mn." Rude nodded, "We'll just let most of them outside. The rest can be dinner." Another two went in the bucket.

She nodded in return. "That's good. I'd hate to have to kill them all." She looked at a snake slithering in front of her, and remembered that she was hungry. "Though, um... if you'll excuse me..." With that, she snatched the snake up with a hand just behind its head, her other hand grabbing its body farther down to control the wriggling and sunk her teeth in. She cringed slightly at the taste of the blood. It certainly paled next to that of a mammal, and even more compared to a human. But it was sustenance, at least.

When she was done, the snake hung limp in her hands. It wasn't quite dead, but it wasn't going to last long, either. It wasn't a large enough animal to sustain that kind of blood loss.

She gave it a pitying look, then held it out to Rude, if he wanted a snake that didn't have much of its blood left in it. She didn't really know how cooking snakes worked, since cooking anything was sort of a foreign concept.
