It'd been a week since the spell had been cast. Finally, after many hours of intensive work, feeding and care, finally the crisis point had passed. "Do you remember who you are?"

A slow, slightly tremulous nod. "Yes, I do. It's not as fuzzy as it was even yesterday." He straightened in the comfortable chair that had been provided for him. "I remember my father--he was a robot?"

Marsha smiled. "No; a cyborg was impersonating your father. But yes, that was close to the end. You're doing well, my friend. What else do you remember?"

"Bits and pieces, really." He reached for the teacup sitting on the table by the chair, and sipped slowly without spilling, which was also an accomplishment over the previous few days. "More chronology than before; it's much easier to place things in their proper order, though they are still fragments."

"And do you remember me?" A calculated question, and Marsha was ready with standby enchantments should the answer be other than what she wanted.

"Of course I remember you," was the immediate answer. "You're the one who saved my life, Marsha. Everyone left me for dead after Illyria dispatched Cyrus Vail, but you came in and found me. Nursed me back to health, in fact, and have been letting me convalesce at your home and you won't even let me repay you."

Marsha smiled. "Oh, don't worry about that, Wesley. You've already repaid me, just by being who you are. Pretty soon, you'll be strong enough to return to your friends. Do keep me updated, won't you?"

Wesley leaned forward, patting Marsha's hand where it rested on her knee. "Of course I will, you know that. I wouldn't think of turning my back on someone who has helped me as much as you have. I owe you my life, in fact, that's no exaggeration."
bitcaewedoe
"I was very, very glad to help." Marsha's eyes glowed brightly for a split second, and then she rose from her chair. "You're tired, and you should rest. You'll still have dinner with me tonight?"

"Of course. It'd be nice to see the rest of the house, now that I feel strong enough to move around."
bitcaewedoe
"Excellent," she said with a smile. "We may have a few friends over, but they're all dying to meet the mystery man I've been protecting from the media. Everyone outside these walls are curiouser and curiouser to find out who you are, but don't worry. I've got ways to smuggle you out as soon as you're ready to go."

Wesley rose from his chair, and escorted Marsha to the door of the two-room suite he'd been occupying. "You're most kind, Marsha. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to repay you."
bitcaewedoe
"As I said, that's taken care of. Just keep me abreast of how things are going with you, and that is repayment enough."
