Michael followed Star at a rather more sedate pace. Watching her back, you might say. Watching his own back. He'd been jittery for a far different reason than the lady he was escorting. Though he'd also been much better at disguising it.
Since Michael was so far behind Star, it was she that David caught sight of first. He pushed himself from the wall and, just barely not running, went to meet her. She was wrapped up in his arms almost before she knew what hit her.
For his part, David wasn't entirely sure what had hit him, he was simply far too glad she was back and whole and safe.
