"Well she came back in the middle of the night and slipped into bed. Didn't know exactly when she was coming back so couldn't plan a big surprise. I decorated the walls in our bedroom. Peyton had to help since I'm not an artist. The back wall has five drawings on it. The first one is of me, the second one is of the day we first met. The third is of our wedding day. The fourth is of the two of us kissing and the last is of her. They all have one word on them that makes up the sentence 'I will always love you.' Underneath is a quote from my book about Layla.
'Suddenly it was as if the world around him melted away and all that was left was Layla. The girl whose plants, passion, and beauty had changed my life. In that moment, my triumph was not comforting her, but simple clarity. The realization that we had always been meant for each other and every instinct to the contrary had simply been a denial of the following truth - I was now and would always be in love with Layla Williams.'
Then the wall on the right has a rainforest painted on it and the wall on the left has the Rivercourt. It's where I used to play ball back home. I had it painted on the walls in my bedroom."
He wondered if it sounded cheesy to Jack but Layla loved it and that was all that really mattered.
He glanced at the kitchen when he heard something break.
"Everything ok out there babe? You need some help?"
