"Honey, I am so sorry, but you cannot leave. You found a puzzle? You played with it when it was done there was a light and then you found me, right?" She said with a kind and soft smile.
She took in all the things he said about Uncle Lucas, about Peyton and some girl Lindsay. She almost started to cry. Wondering about their last conversation and that may be if Peyton was the woman for him and he was getting married to her now...Even if it was an alternate dimension and it was still painful.
She cleared her throat and held back her tears and her emotions. Nothing, but nothing mattered, but these small creatures and this tiny person in front of her. They all came first. Their lives were in her hands, their hopes and dreams were hers to help fulfill, it was up to her to make them safe, happy, secure, healthy. This was her path now. She plastered on a smile and nodded.
"We will work something out. You say your Uncle Lucas, huh? Well, I think that makes me your Aunt Layla?" She extended her hand to him. "I would be honored if you let me take you to him and then we will work out everything, does that sound OK?"
