"Well you win some." She smiled at him, leaning forward just a touch. He was smart, attractive and he had a sense of humour that she could appreciate. He wasn't the warm family man that Elliot was and he wasn't cute and approachable, but a part of her liked this better. Or at least, she liked it for the night. "And you lose some. Couple centuries ago and you wouldn't have found a place this nice on this side of town."
She took another drink from her glass and set it down, debating if she ought to be as forward with Bertie as she had been with Elliot and deciding that, really, he seemed the type to like to gain his ground gradually.
"So now I know about what you do for work--what else is there to you, Mr. Aubrey?"
