The idea of being abroad with a man you were supposed to be in a relationship with was still a little daunting. Catriona would be lying if she said otherwise. She'd informed her parents of the "relationship", quietly ignoring the fact that it wasn't real. It wouldn't do to have Alexander's parents ask her parents only to have her parents act as if they had never heard the news.
She was doing a perfectly acceptable job at ignoring all the awkward pauses in their conversations and any difference in Alexander's behaviour. Adjusting her sweater, Cat sat down and let out a sigh before looking around the room she was in. At least it was quiet. Though, part of her wasn't sure that was any better than home. At least at home she had her cat. She hoped it wouldn't be murdered while she wasn't there to protect it.
So far she was sure she was alone, but perhaps Alexander would surprise her by actually being awake. It wasn't like it was very early, being nine in the morning, but it seemed early for vacation. All the same, she had her gifts for him. There was a long, thin box that contained the quill she'd seen in her store along with another box with an assorted box of coloured inks. There was another box on top of those with a hipflask with Alexander's name engraved on the back. Each were carefully wrapped in silver wrapping paper and tied with green ribbon. It was something perhaps a bit overdone, but she thought Alexander would appreciate it.
Part of her had jokingly pondered getting him something from a muggle store, but she knew that wouldn't end well, so she left it alone. Instead, she carefully constructed an outfit which she'd found on a detour that happened in the middle of shopping for books in muggle London. It would perhaps help with proximity issues.
